a new departure in connection vvith Freemasonry in Aidershot , and proved to be a most enjoyable event . The brethren carried it out on a large scale , issuing upwards of 500 invitations to the Masters and Past Masters of adjoining lodges and distinguished brethren of the Order , in addition to thc Staff of the Aldershot Division , and other officers , and the leading families of the neighbourhood ,
most of whom were present . The Provincial Grand Master of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight having kindly granted a dispensation , the brethren of the Order appeared in Craft clothing , and this , vvith the rich dresses of the ladies , made the scene a very impressive one , not soon to be forgotten . splendid band of the Royal Artillery , under the direction of Mr . H . Sims . A prominent feature of the evening- vvas the appearance of Mr . Corney Grain , vvho is now widely knovvn in his new sketch of country life . We certainly think that in this piece Mr . Convey Grain surpasses himself , thc songs
being exceedingly amusing and well rendered . The company highly appreciated his sallies of wit , as a very large number of those present have considerable acquaintance vvith sport and country houses , though , happily , not of the character described so humorously b y him . His French sketch was also much enjoyed , the audience laughing * most
