NEWBURY . —Loyal Berkshire Lodge of Hope ( No . 574 ) . —The monthly meeting of this lodge was held at the Temperance Hall on Friday , the ist inst ., Bro . W . H . Belcher , W . M ., presiding . The S . W ., Bro . M . H . C Palmer , was installed as W . M . of the lodge for the ensuing year , the ceremony being ably performed by Bro . Stephen Knight , P . M . The newly-installed W . M . afterwards

appointed and invested his officers . A handsome P . M . 's jewel , suitably inscribed , was presented by the officers and brethren of the lodge to the outgoing W . M ., Bro . Belcher . The lodge business , which occupied several hours , was succeeded by a banquet , served in a most complete and

satisfactory style by Bro . Hamlen , at the Council Chamber , which had been decorated with much taste with Alasonic emblems , & c , by Airs . Palmer , Miss Wright , Bro . S . Knight , Mr . Knight , jun ., and others . The tables were also adorned with hothouse flowers . The company included Bro . W . G . Mount , ALP ., and other influential visitors .

LEOMINSTER . —Royal Edward Lodge ( No . S 92 ) . —The installation festival of this lodge was held on Tuesday , the 15 th ult ., in the Alasonic Room , Oak Hotel . The occasion was one of more than ordinary interest and importance , and there was an unusually large gathering of the brethren , among whom were many Past Alasters . The new W . M . was Bro . the Rev . Richard Evans ; and in

the unavoidable absence through illness of his dear old friend , Bro . the Rev . John Buckle , the lodge invited Bro . Thos . Smith to perform the installation . Bro . Smith was accompanied by Bro . W . Rowe , the retiring W . AL , at Hereford , and other Paladians , and , aided by liis remarkable memory and intimate knowledge of the Alasonic ritual , the ceremony was carried out very satisfactorily . The banquet which succeeded was also in lirst class style .

MANCHESTER . —Strangeways Lodge ( No . 1219 ) . —The meeting of this lodge was held at the Masonic Rooms , King-street , on the 30 th ult . Bro . Appleby , W . The lodge having been opened in due form , and the minutes of the last meeting read and confirmed , the real business of the evening was gone into by Bros . P . M's Dawson , P . G . A . D . C , Sec , and W . T . Schofield giving the Third ' Degree to Bros . Robinson and Bradshaw , Bro . Schofield presenting the working tools to both candidates . The workmanlike manner in which the ceremony was given

elicited the highest encomiums from the brethren . The election of the VV . M . for the ensuing year , also the Treasurer and the Tyler during the pleasure of the lodge , were then proceeded with . Bro . VV . Willis , S . VV ., was unanimously elected W . M ., and Bro . VV . T . Schofield , P . M ., Treasurer , lor the ensuing year . The whole of the business on the circular having been gone through , and

" Hearty good wishes " from the visiting brethren expressed , the lodge was closed in peace and harmony , according to ancient custom . The brethren , at the invitation of Bro . Appleby , W . AL , then sat down to supper , and , after the removal of the

cloth , the usual patriotic and Masonic toasts were given and heartily responded to , especially the one to the W . M . elect , Bro . Willis , who was wished health , happiness , and a successful year of office . After the toasts had been disposed of , a most enjoyable evening , intermingled with songs and recitations , came to a close .

PENISTONE . — Wharncliffe Lodge ( No . 1462 ) . The annual meeting of this lodge was held at the lodge room , Rose and Crown Hotel , on the 26 th ult . Bro . Henry Barden was installed W . AI . for the ensuing year by Bro . Henry Field , P . M ., Bro . George Hesketh , P . M ., acting as D . C . The ceremony , vas performed in a very impressive manner by Bro . Field . The W . NEWBURY . —Loyal Berkshire Lodge of Hope ( No . 574 ) . —The monthly meeting of this lodge was held at the Temperance Hall on Friday , the ist inst ., Bro . W . H . Belcher , W . M ., presiding . The S . W ., Bro . M . H . C Palmer , was installed as W . M . of the lodge for the ensuing year , the ceremony being ably performed by Bro . Stephen Knight , P . M . The newly-installed W . M . afterwards

appointed and invested his officers . A handsome P . M . 's jewel , suitably inscribed , was presented by the officers and brethren of the lodge to the outgoing W . M ., Bro . Belcher . The lodge business , which occupied several hours , was succeeded by a banquet , served in a most complete and

satisfactory style by Bro . Hamlen , at the Council Chamber , which had been decorated with much taste with Alasonic emblems , & c , by Airs . Palmer , Miss Wright , Bro . S . Knight , Mr . Knight , jun ., and others . The tables were also adorned with hothouse flowers . The company included Bro . W . G . Mount , ALP ., and other influential visitors .

LEOMINSTER . —Royal Edward Lodge ( No . S 92 ) . —The installation festival of this lodge was held on Tuesday , the 15 th ult ., in the Alasonic Room , Oak Hotel . The occasion was one of more than ordinary interest and importance , and there was an unusually large gathering of the brethren , among whom were many Past Alasters . The new W . M . was Bro . the Rev . Richard Evans ; and in

the unavoidable absence through illness of his dear old friend , Bro . the Rev . John Buckle , the lodge invited Bro . Thos . Smith to perform the installation . Bro . Smith was accompanied by Bro . W . Rowe , the retiring W . AL , at Hereford , and other Paladians , and , aided by liis remarkable memory and intimate knowledge of the Alasonic ritual , the ceremony was carried out very satisfactorily . The banquet which succeeded was also in lirst class style .

The workmanlike manner in which the ceremony was given

elicited the highest encomiums from the brethren . The election of the VV . M . for the ensuing year , also the Treasurer and the Tyler during the pleasure of the lodge , were then proceeded with . ST . COLUMB . — Fort Lodge ( No . 206 ) . —A meeting of this lodge was held on the 2 Sth ult ., in the Masonic Hall , Bro . Frank Bray , VV . M ., presiding . Bro . John Best , S . W ., was elected VV . M ., and Bro . B . Wellington , P . P . G . J . O ., as Treasurer for the ensuing year . The installation of the VV . M . elect will take place in the Masonic Hall on

the 22 nd of March , when a banquet will be provided at the Red Lion Hotel . On the motion of Col . Michell , P . P . G . S . VV ., seconded by Bro . T . Hicks , P . P . G . J . O ., it was resolved to invite the Prov . G . M ., Bro . Sir C . B . Graves-Sawle , Bart ., to hold the next Prov . Grand Mark Lodge at Newquay .

DUNBAR . —Dunbar Castle Lodge ( No . 75 ) . — On Monday evening , the 3 Sth ult ., the Festival of St . John the Evangelist was celebrated with befitting ceremony by this lodge . The brethren met in the lodge room under Bro . Provost Brand , R . W . M ., when the following oflice bearers were installed with due ceremony and in a most impressive manner by Bro . D . M . at its head as thc worthy Provost , assisted by his able ollice bearers . The lodge was thereafter reduced , and the brethren adjourned to the Royal Hotel to celebrate the Festival of St . John , when upwards of 50 sat down to supper , which was

provided in Mrs . Brown ' s usual recherche style . R . W . M . Bro . Provost Brand occupied the chair , and proposed the loyal , patriotic , and Masonic toasts . " The Army , Navy , and Auxiliary Forces , " proposed from the chair , was responded to in good style by Bros . L .

J . Russell and VV . Grahame . " The Town and Trade of Dunbar " was proposed by Bro . T . Robertson , and ably replied to by Bro . M'Kenzie . " The Ladies , " given by Bro . Provost Brand , was ably responded to by Bro . Trooper J . Davidson , E . L . Y . C . "The Magistrates and Town Council of Dunbar" was proposed by Bro . J . A . Purves , and replied to by Bro , Provost Brand .
