Having arrived there , they breakfasted at the Clyde Hotel after vvhich they proceeded to Lanark , visiting the Falls of Clyde . Mr . Falls of Clyde . Dinner vvas purveyed by Mr . Shand , of the Caledonian Hotel , Lanark , Bro . McKean presiding in his usual felicitous and humorous manner . The toasts vvere numerous , and well responded to by the professional brethren . Laying Foundation Stone Of A New Masonic Hall At Stokesley.

LAYING FOUNDATION STONE OF A NEW MASONIC HALL AT STOKESLEY .

This quaint old town , so prettily situated in the vale of Cleveland , vvas the scene of an interesting ceremony on the 22 nd ult ., when the foundation stone of a new Masonic Hall vvas laid by the Senior Past Master , Bro . J . H . Handyside , P . P . G . W . The occasion vvas noteworthy , because the Cleveland Lodge , No . = | 43 . is the

only lodge ( out of the 31 vvhich comprises the Province of North and East Yorkshire ) which meets at an hotel , therefore when the new hall is completed all the lodges in the province will meet in their own halls , a circumstance which , perhaps , no other province in England can parallel . At 3 . 30 p . m . the lodge was opened in the Golden

Lion Hotel , by the VV . M ., Bro . VV . H . Dixon , and his ollicers . Bro . M . C . Peck , P . G . Std . Br . England , and Prov . Grand Secretary , acted as D . C , and having read the commission from the Marquess of Zetland , Prov . G . M ., appointing Bro . Handyside to lay the foundation stone , the procession was marshalled as follows : Volunteer Band ; Tyler with drawn Sword ; Master

Mason *; Lodge Banner borne by Bro . VV . Farrow ; Architect ( Bro . Weatherill ) vvith Plate and Plans ; the Corinthian Light , borne by Bro . VV . Robinson ; Corn , Wine , and Oil , borne by Bros . VV . H . Kalkingbridge , P . P . G . S . W ., J . H . llearsley , P . G . D . C , and ] . N . 1 awson , IM G . Std . lir . ; Jun . Warden ( Bro . W . L . Carrick ) with Plumb ; the Doric Light , borne bv Bro . VV . Atkinson ;

Senior Warden ( Bro . G . VV . VVest ) vvith Level ; the Chaplain , Rev . W . T . Robinson , bearing Holy Bible on Cushion ; Junior Deacon , vvith Wand : Senior Deacon , with Wand ; the Ionic Light , borne by Bro . | . Ii . Fi-miey ; Bro . 11 . Sheppard , P . M . ; Hro . G . Madley , P . M . ; Bro . VV . Winn , P . P . G . D ., with Gavel ; Bro . VV . A . Iliitchenci-, P . M ., with Trowel ; the VV . M .,

Bio . VV . ll . Dixou , vvith the Square ; Bro . M . C . Peck , P . G . Sec . ; Bro . R . Watson , P . P . G . S . B ., vvith Bottle of Records and Coins ; Bro . J . IL Handyside , P . P . G . W . ; Stewards , and Police . When the brethren issued from the hotel yard , the townspeople formed an admiring avenue , through vvhich the solemn procession marched , to the lively quick-step

of " lorn Bowling , played by the band . On arriving at the enclosure , several ladies , who were interested spectators , joined the brethren . The symbolic li ghts were arranged in triangular form round the stone , and the customary ceremonial vvas admirabl y performed by Bro . Handyside . the father of the lodge , and a brother , whose bearing through life , has caused the Craft to be

respected in the town in which he has resided for so many years . The ceremony being completed , the National Anthem was sung , and after a short address from the PIIOV . GRAND SIX'KKT . VKY , the procession returned , the band playing a s . tcred march , to the Golden Lion , where the lodge was closed .

A Holiday Lodge.

A HOLIDAY LODGE .

On Tuesday , the 27 th ult ., vve had a delightful drive to Corsham Irom Bath with Bros . S . G . Mitchell , R . B . Cater , and Selkirk , arriving in good time for the opening of the Lodge of Rectitude . No . 335 . The Methuen Arms Hotel took us in , and did for us most agreeably , Bros . C . W . Radway and James Robinson having gone

on before and prepared the way for our reception . The extraordinary flow of spirits of the party was something exbilirating , and it was with difficulty that 1 could preserve my gravity and dignity as the senior Past Master of the six happy travellers . Soon other carriages arrived , and , on the muster roll being called ( figuratively ) , over 30 brethren were found

to be assembled , and the lodge was opened by the acting VV . M ., Bro . J . Robinson , P . M . 41 and 335 , in the regretted absence , through illness , of the Master , Bro . the Rev . E . And < -rson . Bro . VV . S . Brymer was in his chair as S . W . ; Bro . C . B . Oliver , J . W . ; Bro . the Rev . J . Dunlap , Ch iplain ; Bro . B . H . Watts , P . M .,

Ireasurer ; Bro . Edward Noke , P . M ., Secretary ; and Bro . the Rev . F . W . Macdonald , P . M ., . tc , I . G . These and the rest of us were well tyled by Bro . S . Bigwood , of No . 41 , for none would think of escaping his vigilant eye , or passing his long sword , until permission vvas duly accorded .
