The Province of Middlesex fortunately possessed the services of two very good
and able Grand Officers , namely , Bros . Buss and Levander . In concluding his remarks , he said that for many years past he had had the honour of being invited to attend their meetings , and it had afforded him great satisfaction to witness the progress of the Piovince of Middlesex under the genial sway of their popular Prov . Grand Master , Bro . Sir Francis Burdett . "The Health of the R . W . Prov . Grand Master" was heartily proposed
by Bro . Sir Francis Burdett possessed ; suffice it to say he was a pure Englishman . They all knew him as an able Mason ; but he ( the speaker ) had heard of his popularity in Wiltshire and and elsewhere as a kind and generous landlord . ( Hear , hear . ) There had
been a song sung that evening called " The Three Jolly Britons ; " and he was of opinion that no term could be more appropriate for the Prov . Alluding to the remark just made by the Prov . A large number ol members from the various lodges in the province were present . All were represented except Greta , 1073 , Keswick . Tne Provincial Grand Lodge was then opened in due form , and the minutes ol the half-yearly communication , held at Carlisle last April , under the banner of the Union Lodge , No . 310 , were read and confirmed . Bro . W . B . GIBSON- , in the absence of Bro . Kenworthy , P . G . Treas .,
read the statement of accounts , which was adopted . It was also intimated by Bro . Gibson that Bro . Kenworthy desired to retire from the office of Provincial Grand Treasurer , an office which Bro . Kenworthy had held for a number of years with much credit lo himself and the province , and on the motion of Bro . GIBSON , seconded by Bro . Major F . R . SEWELL , Bro . R . Nelson , P . M . 129 , was , by an unanimous vote , duly elected Provincial Grand Treasurer .
On the motion of Bro . HAYWARD , seconded by Bro . COOK , Bro . W . Graham , Tyler 1532 , was elected Provincial Grand Tyler . On the motion of Bro . GIBSON' , seconded by Bro . BARR , a Committee , to consist of the following Officers of Provincial Grand Lodge , was appointed , with power to add to their number : the W . D . Prov . G . M ., the Prov . G . S . W ., the Prov . G . J . VV ., and the Prov . G . Sec , to co-operate with similar Committees from other provinces to consider the proposed revised edition of the Constitutions . Several of the members expressed an opinion
that the chief of the proposed amendments was an improvement , but is was evident if the clause to increase the annual dues to Grand Lodge be adopted , it will not be well received by the members of this province . " Let well be , " was the unanimous opinion expressed ; in short , if adopted , many of the more "tender plants " will have to return to the place from whence they came . The next business was the installation of W . Deputy Prov . Grand Master , when Bro . L . F . B . Dykes , W . M . 1002 , was presented to the R . W . Prov . Grand Master , and duly obligated , invested , and installed .
The officers for the ensuing year were then appointed and invested as follows :

Chaplain , from Isaiah lii , 8 , " For they shall sec eye to eye . " The reverend brother ' s discourse was most eloquent , and very appropriate to the occasion , and was attentively listened to by a large congregation .
A liberal collection was made at the close of the service on behalf of the Masonic Charities . After returning to the place of meeting the brethren adjourned to the County Hotel , where a banquet was served . The R . W . Prov . Grand Master occupied the chair for a short time , and was afterwards succeeded by the W . Deputy Prov . Grand Master , when a long toast list was gone through , after which the brethren separated .
