disposed of , Comp . Captain A . Nicols worked the first clause with the assistance of Comp . T . C . " Edmonds , greatly to the satisfaction and instruction of the companions . Three candidates were proposed for the autumn meeting , when a large gathering of the members and their friends is expected . The labours of the evening being concluded , the
companions dined together . The M . E . Z ., Comp . Capt . A . Nicols , rising to propose the first toast of the evening , viz ., " Her Majesty the Queen and Royal Arch Masonry , " said that it required neither preface nor comment , for it was a toast which all were bound by love and duty to honour . Noble and good herself , our Gracious Queen has ever been the patroness of those institutions which have for their object the relief of
the distressed and the welfare of her subjects . Hence we find her assisting in the support of our Masonic Institutions —taking on trust their noble object without being permitted to penetrate our mysteries or to share our secrets . The toast was honoured with enthusiasm . The customary toasts being duly honoured and responded to , the companions enjoyed a quiet hour in peaceful conversation and harmony .

G . H . of the Order , and the rest of the Urand Omcers , Present and Past , " followed . "The Health of the First Principal of the Chapter " was then proposed by Ex . Comp . J . Wickens , LP . Principal , who alluded , in eulogistic terms , to the correct and
faultless manner in which Ex . Comp . Kennedy , had performed the ceremonv of exaltation in the chapter , he was confident that the companions whom the M . E . Z . had exalted that evening were deeply impressed not only with the nature of the ceremony which they had witnessed , but also with the impressive manner in which it was delivered by the
M . E . Z . Comp . Kennedy , in reply , thanked the companions for their cordial greeting . He appreciated the honour of presiding overso old and renowned a chapter as No . 13 , Union Waterloo . It would be his earnest endeavour to maintain during his period of office the prestige of No . 13 Chapter , and to follow in the footsteps of those excellent Masons that
had built up its reputation , and had made it in regard to its working one of the foremost chapters in the metropolitan district . He was proud to have the privilege of exalting that evening five worthy companions . He ventured to say that that experience was unique in the history of the Union Waterloo Chapter , as during the 20 years he had been connected with it , so great a number had not been exalted
on any occasion . He trusted it was an augury of further and continued success , especially as three candidates were proposed for exaltation at the next meeting . This would enable him at the end of his year of office to hand the chapter over to his successor in a flourishing condition . " The Health of the Past Principals of the Chapter " was then proposed by the M . E . Z ., and was duly responded
to by P . Z . ' s Comps . Wilkins , Gamble , and Richey . The toast of "The Visitors" followed , being responded to by Comps . J . C . Smith , Rowan , and Aillud . Comp . was rehearsed , Comp . Ives candidate . After rising for the third time , " Hearty good wishes " were given to the M . E . Z . Banister , who thanked the brethren most heartily for the very great kindness withwhich he was always received when he came amongst them ; and ,
although he felt old age creeping upon him , trusted that he might yet be spared to attend and witness their good working of that beautiful Christian Degree . Before sitting down he had the greatest pleasure in proposing "The Good Health and Prosperity of the M . W . S ., III . Bro . S . Kelly , " who had so ably worked the ritual and perfected the candidate immediately after his installation , and felt sure that the
officers appointed would emulate their chief . On the M . W . S . rising to respond to the toast , he was received most cordially , and thanked Bro . Banister and the brethren for their kindness in a very neat speech . The M . W . S . next proposed "The Members of the 32 ° and 31 ° , " which was responded to by III . Bro . VV . H . Fry , 30 " , assisted by the officers . The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . Comp . John McKay , who had been previously elected , came up for the Degree , and was installed a Knight Templar by the E . P ., Sir Knight C . R .
Fry , in his usual perfect and impressive manner . Business of the chapter being finished , the preceptory was closed in due form . A fair number joined at refreshments in the dining hall , and spent a happy evening under the presidency of the Eminent Preceptor . 'The loyal and Masonic toasts were duly proposed , and responded to by the Knights . This preceptory is well worked and very prosperous .

'The dinner was most excellent , and after grace the Chairman , in suitable termsproposed the toast
, of "Her Most Gracious Matesty the Oueen , their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales , and the rest of the Royal Family , " which were duly honoured . The E . P . Prior of Knight Templars of the province , Sir Knt . Charles James Banister , P . M . I . G . M ., in kind and affectionate terms , proposed "The Good Health of their guest , Sir Knt . Henry Hotham , Grand Superintendent , " who had ruled over them so kindly since the death of their
lamented Sir Knt . Wm . Punshion . He trusted that their old and esteemed friend would enjoy yet many years of happiness in the office he so ably filled . He and Sir Knt . Hotham had worked together in these Christian Degrees for over 30 years , and it seemed but the other day since he was proposed as a candidate by his dear old friend , and he trusted that they might both be spared to work together in love and harmony .
I he toast was drunk with acclamation . Sir Knt . Hotham , on rising to respond , was greeted w ith long and hearty cheers . He thanked his old and dear friend lor the very handscme way he had proposed his health , and was much too flattering in his encomiums . He had only done his duty , which was a labour of love , and with such kind friends about him how could he be otherwise than happy . He thanked them very much for this
further mark of their kindness and affection to him , and he trusted that all present , with those absent members who were unavoidably prevented being with them that day , might live many years to conduct the business of this knightly Degree , of which we were so justly proud . A fair number joined at refreshments in the dining hall , and spent a happy evening under the presidency of the Eminent Preceptor . 'The loyal and Masonic toasts were duly proposed , and responded to by the Knights . This preceptory is well worked and very prosperous .

Prior of Knight Templars of the province , Sir Knt . Charles James Banister , P . M . I . G . M ., in kind and affectionate terms , proposed "The Good Health of their guest , Sir Knt . Henry Hotham , Grand Superintendent , " who had ruled over them so kindly since the death of their
lamented Sir Knt . Wm . Punshion . He trusted that their old and esteemed friend would enjoy yet many years of happiness in the office he so ably filled . He and Sir Knt . Hotham had worked together in these Christian Degrees for over 30 years , and it seemed but the other day since he was proposed as a candidate by his dear old friend , and he trusted that they might both be spared to work together in love and harmony .
I he toast was drunk with acclamation . Sir Knt . Hotham , on rising to respond , was greeted w ith long and hearty cheers . He thanked his old and dear friend lor the very handscme way he had proposed his health , and was much too flattering in his encomiums . He had only done his duty , which was a labour of love , and with such kind friends about him how could he be otherwise than happy . He thanked them very much for this
further mark of their kindness and affection to him , and he trusted that all present , with those absent members who were unavoidably prevented being with them that day , might live many years to conduct the business of this knightly Degree , of which we were so justly proud .
