After Major Haines , of the Royal Warwick Regiment , had been initiated , the brethren sat down to a banquet at the Imperial Hotel , provided bv Bro . Henry Stone .
The VV . M . proposed "The Queen and the Craft . " The W . M ., in proposing " The Most Worshipful Grand Master , " spoke to the large increase of members since the Prince of Wales was at the head of the Order , and said he was proud to have in their lodge two Grand Officers—H . R . H . the Duke of Connaught , who was an old member of 10 , 71 , and Colonel Davis—and that the brethren welcomed his
Royal Highness back to the lodge and to the important command of Aldershot . His Royal Highness , in reply , thanked the brethren for the kind wav in which they had received the remarks of the VV . M . He was an old member of the lodge , which he thought was needed in a large garrison like that . He spoke of the many benefits of Masonry , and regretted that
up to then he had been unable to be present at the lodge , not residing in Aldershot . Now , however , that he had returned he should show his interest in this military lodge , and he trusted its members would increase . The W . M . proposed "The P . G . M ., VV . Bro . W . Beach , M . P ., and the Prov . Grand Officers , Present and Past . "
Bro . Beach replied , and expressed the pleasure it gave him to attend the lodge . The way the work was done , both by the W . M . and officers in lodge , merited his special approval . He said how necessary it was that the impressions produced by the ceremonies in a lodge like that should be not only lasting , but carried by the brethren to all parts of her Majesty ' s dominions , and he trusted the
pure tenets of Masonry would be maintained wherever the brethren of that lodge might be . His Roval Highness then proposed "The Health of the Worshipful Master , Bro . Major Quayle Jones , " and stated how pleased he had been with the working of the lodge . He re-echced the remarks of the P . G . M . as to the use the lodge was , remarking that
a large number of brethren were passing through the camp and that lodge , and ! doing duty for their Queen and country in all parts , and that the bonds of friendship found in 1971 between the brethren must have been productive of lasting benefit to ofiicers when doing duty far from their homes . He trusted that 1071 would continue to prosper under the able guidance of the W . M . and his
successor . The W . M . replied , and proposed "The Health of Bro . Major Haines , " who was initiated that evening , and who suitably replied , and a vote of thanks to Bro . Stone concluded the proceedings .

He had charmed them all by his geniality and affability . They were glad to see him in their midst again , and in the name of the lodge he ( the W . M . ) trusted that the Prov . Grand Master would visit it
as often as engagements would permit . Bro . Col . Cook , in reply , said that that lodge was the first Mark lodge he had visited after his induction as Prov . Grand Master , and a very kind and warm reception the members accorded to him . It bore an honoured name and he was pleased to hear that its prospects were so good financially . He hoped to be amongst them again ere long .
In reply to the toast of his health the VV . M . said that he regretted that by the retirement of the Wardens he had been called upon to fill the chair for another year . The Worshipful Master in proposing "The Health ol the Prov . Grand Master , " said that at the last installation meeting of the lodge they had been honoured with the presence of Bro . Col . Cook . He had charmed them all by his geniality and affability . They were glad to see him in their midst again , and in the name of the lodge he ( the W . M . ) trusted that the Prov . Grand Master would visit it
as often as engagements would permit . Bro . Col . Cook , in reply , said that that lodge was the first Mark lodge he had visited after his induction as Prov . Grand Master , and a very kind and warm reception the members accorded to him . It bore an honoured name and he was pleased to hear that its prospects were so good financially . He hoped to be amongst them again ere long .
In reply to the toast of his health the VV . M . said that he regretted that by the retirement of the Wardens he had been called upon to fill the chair for another year . He had had a very pleasant year and would have liked to have had a year ' s rest , but as the lodge had re-elected him he would do his best to keep up the traditions of No . 1 S 1 .
