The bv- ' laws , as amended , were duly pissed , one very important point being a percentage of subscription to swell the Benevolent Fund ot the lodge , which was dwelt upon most effectively by Bro . T . R . Cass , I . P . M . lt was resolved that a letter of sympathy be sent to Bro . E . A . Rice , S . W ., in his illness , with the earnest desire that he may speedily be restored to health . Apologies were read from the Treasurer for inability to attend through illness . The business ended , the brethren adjourned to an excellent supper .
The loyal and Masonic toasts were given most sympathetically by the VV . M ., that of "The M . W . Pro G . Master , the Earl of Lathom ; the R . W . Dep . G . M ., the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe ; and the rest of the Grand Ofiiceis , P . esent and Past , " likewise received its well-merited remarks . Bro . T . R . Cass , I . P . M ., after very linlly alluding to the severe loss in the Royal family , stated he rose with extreme pleasure to give the toast of " The VV . M . " All knew his manifold virtues , that it was further unnecessary to extol them . The W . M .
was one of the best that the lodge hid had , and although a most busy man , yet he was able to attend to his Masonic duties ard conduct the affairs of the lodge in a manner which redounded greatly to his credit . The solemnity with which the ceremonies were woiked had made a great impression upon the candidates . He ( Bro . Cass ) could not refrain from regretting the absence of Bro . Rice , S . W ., through illness , who would have so greatly assisted the W . M . in the ceremonies , he likewise being such an able worker . The toast was drunk most cordially .
Bro . Le Crcn , W . M ., most heartily thanked the brethren for such a geeting , and repeated that he had been extremely busy , but withal it was the VV . M . ' s duty to the lodge that the various ceremonies should be cirried out in such a minner as to gain appreciation , and he was glad that had been achieved . The W . M . next presented the toast of " The Visitors , " according to all a most hearty welcome .
In reply , Bro . C Plant , VV . M . 101 , said he was proud to have visited the lodge and to see such excellent working ; in fact , without fear of contradiction , he would repeat he had never witnessed better . He ascribed that fact to the regular attendance of the W . M . at the Blackheath Lodge of Instruction . Bros . Rimbault , Niblett , Simpson , Choveaux , and Stone also responded . The VV . M . next gave the toast of "The Treasurer and Secretary , " to which was added "The Past Masters . "
Bros . Stunt , Sec , Hooper , and Cass most ably replied . The toast of "The Officers" was presented by the VV . M . in happy and becoming terms . Bros . Pike , acting S . W ., and King , acting J . W ., responded , and pledged themselves to do their ulmcst for the welfare ot the lodge . The Tyler ' s toast closed a very happy meeting . Some capital songs were rendered by Bros . Hobley , King , Stunt , Hesse , Salter , Tempest ( reciter ) , and Stone . Bro . Choveaux ably presided at the piano .

Bro . A . Cos , I . P . M ., briefly proposed "The Health of the VV . M ., " and said he was certain it was a great pleasure to Bro . Ritchie to occupy that important position . The VV . M . and he had been assiciated fir miny years—long before Bro . Ritchie came into the lodge—and he ( the I . P . M . ) was proud indeed to be in a position to ask the brethren to drink to his good health . Bro . D . C . Ritchie , W . M ., said he rose with great diliJ-ence to respond to thit toast , and thank them for the more than kind way in which it had been received . It hid been his ambition to asnire to the chair of K . S ., and , hiving achieved th it
am'iition , he . was more thin pleised . The I . P . M . hid sp iken very kindlyof him , and he was certain that whit liro . Cox said he felt . He wis delight id to see so minv present , whether it was out of reSDect for himself or by accident , he ciuld nit siy ; hut he wis pleased and delighted . He might tell them it wis his intention to go up as Ste . vir . I for the Boys' School . Cox perform his duties during his tfim of office , and , both as I . P . M . and Installing Master , the brethren present would drink his health in a bumper .
Bro . A . Cox , I . P . M ., thanked the VV . M . for the Ihttering terms in which he hid spoken of his work . He had tried to do his best during his year , but whit he wanted to do most of all was the installation ceremony , and if he had done that to the satisfaction of the members he was satisfied . He thanked the brethren for their hearty reception , and trusted to live for many years to be with them as a Past Mister . Bro . T . C . Anderson , I . P . M . 1 G 13 , replied for " The Visitors , " and said it was now many years since he promised his good friend , the VV . M ., to att nd his installation . He was , therefore , pleased to attend , and thanked them for the welcome he hid receivf-d .

M . 2191 , relurnrd thinks for the kindly reception he hid always met with during the last 10 years , during which he hid been connected with the Islington Lodge of Ins . tructi in . It was a great pleasure to him to occupy th it post , and it was exceedingly satisfying to know his services were accorded the grateful and kindly consideration of the many distinguished Past Masters and splenc'id workers who had occupied the chair nf _ the lodge , lt wis gratifying to see those who distinguished themselves in the ledge of instruction come forward in the mother lodge , and lie hoped to see many more brethren installed in the future .
Bro . VV . J . Mason , P . P . G . D . Surrey , said he was always pleased to visit that lodge , more particularly as he had many p"rsonal friends in it . He was present through the kindness of his esteemed friend Bro . Coxon , P . M ., and he was speaking the sentiments of all the visitors when he said they had spent a plei-ant and instructive evening . He was present a year ago to see the L P . U . installed by his fath-r , and the installation on the present cccasion was well up to the mark . He trusted the lodge would continue to prosper , and that the VV . M . would hive a pleasant and prosperous vear of office .

of opinion that the jewel was of French introduction , is a number of prisoners of war were interned at Baiton during the wars of Napoleon . Bro . Lowther Carrick also exhibited a line laige eaithenwaie jug , printed with Masonic designs , and a set of silver jewels , both belonging to St . Micnael ' s Lodge , No . GS 3 , Brampton . This lodge was erased in 1 S 3 S , when these curious relics passed into the hands of Bro . Carrick s grandfather , then a member .
After the lodge was closed , the brethren were entertained at dinner by the WovsHipfu ! Master . During the evening excellent speeches were given , and a capital musical programme was enjoyed .

The solemnity with which the ceremonies were woiked had made a great impression upon the candidates . He ( Bro . Cass ) could not refrain from regretting the absence of Bro . Rice , S . W ., through illness , who would have so greatly assisted the W . M . in the ceremonies , he likewise being such an able worker . The toast was drunk most cordially .
Bro . Le Crcn , W . M ., most heartily thanked the brethren for such a geeting , and repeated that he had been extremely busy , but withal it was the VV . M . ' s duty to the lodge that the various ceremonies should be cirried out in such a minner as to gain appreciation , and he was glad that had been achieved . The W . M . next presented the toast of " The Visitors , " according to all a most hearty welcome .
In reply , Bro . C Plant , VV . M . 101 , said he was proud to have visited the lodge and to see such excellent working ; in fact , without fear of contradiction , he would repeat he had never witnessed better . He ascribed that fact to the regular attendance of the W . M . at the Blackheath Lodge of Instruction . Bros . Rimbault , Niblett , Simpson , Choveaux , and Stone also responded . The VV . M . next gave the toast of "The Treasurer and Secretary , " to which was added "The Past Masters . "
Bros . Stunt , Sec , Hooper , and Cass most ably replied . The toast of "The Officers" was presented by the VV . M . in happy and becoming terms . Bros . Pike , acting S . W ., and King , acting J . W ., responded , and pledged themselves to do their ulmcst for the welfare ot the lodge . The Tyler ' s toast closed a very happy meeting . Some capital songs were rendered by Bros . of opinion that the jewel was of French introduction , is a number of prisoners of war were interned at Baiton during the wars of Napoleon . Bro . Lowther Carrick also exhibited a line laige eaithenwaie jug , printed with Masonic designs , and a set of silver jewels , both belonging to St . Micnael ' s Lodge , No . GS 3 , Brampton . This lodge was erased in 1 S 3 S , when these curious relics passed into the hands of Bro . Carrick s grandfather , then a member .
After the lodge was closed , the brethren were entertained at dinner by the WovsHipfu ! Master . During the evening excellent speeches were given , and a capital musical programme was enjoyed .
