Mark Supt . of Works , responded for the Grand Lodge , and took occasion to eulogise Mark Masonry , and to show the interesting character of the Degree and the great antiquity of Marks , as shown , not only in our old cathedrals , but carved on ancient temples throughout the world . He instanced the " point within the circle" as carved on the Temple at Allahabad in India , and dating back to about 15 S 0 A . D . The Tyler ' s toast brought a very agreeable meeting to an end . A large number of candidates were proposed for advancement .

. Under very happy auspices , the consecration of the above Mark iodge was most successfully performed at the Masonic Hall , Alameda , Gibraltar , on Friday , the 21 st ult . Bro . C . Hammerton , the recently-appointed Dist . G . M . M . of Gibraltar , assumed the chair , supported by Bros . Vi ? . F . Roberts , P . G . O ., and Colonel J . T . Ritchie , P . G . S . LORNE LODGE , No . 1347 . The last meeting of the session ol the above lodge was held on Monday last , the ist instant , at the Masonic Hall , Sutton , when there were 25 brethren present . In the unavoidable absence of the popular Preceptor ( Bro . Tom Smith ) , Bro . A . Stribling undertook those duties .

The lodge having been opened in the Three Degrees , the ist , 2 nd , 3 rd , 4 th , and Cth Sections were most ably worked by Bros . Goatcher , W . Van Oppen , C Stribling , R . R . Ward , and E . M . Gibson , all of whom were initiated in this lodge within the last two years , which reflected the greatest credit on their zeal for Masonry .

ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR GIRLS .

A most enjoyable concert was given to the pupils on the ist inst . by a number of friends of the Institution . Bro . J . H . Matthews , President of the Board of Benevolence , presided , in consequence of the regrettable absence of Bro . R . Loveland Loveland , Chairman of the month , owing to ill-health . Bro . Charles Hammerton ( House Committee ) was also present , as well as several friends of the perfoi mers .

The programme consisted of instrumental and vocal items , the artistes in the former instance being Mrs . Percy M . Castello and Miss Florence Tobias ( banjoists ) , Miss Amy Bell , Miss Ethel Tobias , Mr . Reginald Davidson ( soloists ) , whilst Mr . Percy M . Castello contributed several musical sketches and humorous songs in his inimitable manner , amongst others being two of his own composition— "Happy Hampstead , " and , as an encore , " The Anglo-French Courtship . " The exquisite singing of Miss Amy Bell was greatly , appreciated , and she won well-deserved

encores . A vote of thanks was cordially given by the children to the performers , upon the proposition of Bro . J . H . MATTHEWS .
