M . announced his intention of acting as Steward at the approaching Festival of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , and the Treasurer gave notice that at the next n eeting he would move the grant of a sum from the lodge funds to be placed on the Master's list . T he names of two candidates for initiation and membership were handed in and lodge having been closed , the brethren dined together , the after-prcceedings being rendered more than usually delightful by the singing of Bros . John Probert , Baxter , Tibbatts , Grimwade , Gray , and Dade .

DENTON . Duke Of Athol Lodge ( No . 210 ) . —There was a large assembly of the brethren , including several visitors , at the regular meeting of this lodge , on Wednesday , the 19 th ult ., at the Bowling Green Hotel , and the occasion was taken advantage of for presenting a handsome illuminated address , in album form , to Bro . F . M . Veevers ,

late J . W ., in recognition of his past services in the Lodge and Chapter of Faith , on his removal to Rochester . The lodge was opened by Bro . Chambers , W . M ., and the minutes read and confirmed , after which Bro . Foreman , P . M ., assisted by Bro . Bromley , P . M ., and the officers , initiated Mr . James Clough ; the ceremony was acknowledged to have been performed in a masterly and impressive

manner . The Worshipful Master then said he had a very pleasing duty to perform , that of presenting an address to Bro . Veevers , and in eulogistic terms referred to the services rendered , not only to the lodge , but * to the town generally , by Bro . you are Principal Sojourner , having learned of your removal from Denton to Rochester , embrace this opportunity of expressing our unfeigned regret at losing one of our most valuable and valued officers , and of assuring you of the high esteem and respect we entertain for you as a citizen and a brother . We rejoice that your removal brings advancement , and promises for you future financial

prosperity ; we also trust it may bring social comfort and happiness , and that the change to a more genial climate may conduce to good and vigorous health amongst all the members of your family . Your career in the Lodge , from the lowest ofiice up to the Wardenship , as also in the chapter , has been uniformly marked with prosperity of conduct and attention to duty , vou have been distinguished

by the eminence of your gifts and the importance of the services rendered . The first page , which is full of detail and thought , is executed upon vellum . The border is taken from a MS . Breviary , or Book of Hours , once belonging to Queen Mary . The coat-of-arms of the

Duke of Athol Lodge is introduced in the title of the page , and the initial " W" commencing the address is a beautiful piece of illuminating , with the compass and square forming a background to the letter . Page two contains the body of the address , with four illuminated initials , the first showing the crest , coat-of-arms , and motto of the Veevers family , and

each of the remaining three bearing a Masonic emblem , introduced in an exceedingly neat and tasteful style , and page three , the chief feature of which is another initial " W , " faced by a Masonic pillar and displaying the mosaic pavement , there is here a delicate border of tracery work , with the commencement of the signatures , and page four contains the remaining names of subscribers to it .

Industry Lodge ( No . 48 ) . —The first regular meeting since the installation gathering was held at the Industry Masonic Hall , on Monday , the 24 th ult ., when there was a fairly good muster of brethren . After other business had been transacted , the lodge was closed , and those present adjourned to the refreshment room , where songs , toasts , and harmony prevailed until a late hour .

HAMPTON ^ COURT . Wolsey Lodge ( No . 1656 ) . —A meeting of this lodge was held at the Greyhound Hotel on the 17 th ult . Amongst those present were Bros . Thomas Grant , W . M . ; H . Bond , S . W . ; J . Spooner , J . VV . ; J . Featherstone , P . M ., P . P . G . P ., Treas . ; W . T . Peat , S . D ., acting Sec ; R . W . Rice , J . D . ; H . Sapsworth , I . P . M . ; F . L .

Chandler , P . M ., P . P . G . P . ; and J . Gilbert , P . G . T ., Tyler . The minutes of the last regular meeting and two emergencies were read and confirmed . Bros . Bond and Alexander were passed to the Second Degree , and Bros . O'Hara and Kearswell raised to the Third Degree , both ceremonies being performed hy the W . M . in a most painstaking manner . Bro . H . Bond , S . W ., was unanimously elected W . M . ; Bro . J . Featherstone , Treas . ; and Bro .

J . Gilbert , Tyler . The by-laws having been read , Bros . Crocker and Thomson were elected Auditors in conjunction with the Permanent Committee of the lodge . Upon the motion of the Treasurer , seconded by Bro . F . L . Chandler , P . M ., and which was carried unanimously , the sum of five guineas was voted to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , per Bro . T . Grant , W . M . as Steward to that Institution for 1893 . The acting Secretary announced that the

Provincial Grand Lodge would be held at Teddington on Saturday , May Gth . A Past Master ' s jewel was unanimously voted to the W . M . Apologies for non-attendance were received from Bros . Capt . T . C . Walls , P . M ., Sec . ; E . Dare , P . M . ; R . Simpson , LG . ; and others . The lodge was then closed . A banquet followed , at which the W . M . presided with his usual geniality and ability .

LEICESTER . Commercial Lodge ( No . 1391 ) . —The annual festival of this prosperous lodge , the second largest in the province , was held at Freemasons' Hall , on the 28 th ult ., and was largely attended , there being present , amongst others , Bros . S . S . Partridge , P . A . G . D . C . England , Deputy

C , presented a jewel of honour to that distinguished brother in acknow . ledgement of the many services he had rendered to the lodge during its existence—it now having attained its majority , being just 21 years since it was consecrated , and Bro . C . J . Wilkinson was the only founder now living wno had been a continuous member thereof , he always taking a

deep interest in everything connected with the lodge , and ready to give to every brother the benefit of his lono Masonic experience . The jewel is one of unique pattern ! combining the emblems of P . D . C , P . P . S . G . W ., an , j P . M . Bro . Wilkinson suitably returned thanks , and said he should like to propose a vote of thanks to the Deputy P . G . M ., Bro . S . S . Partridge , and Bro . J . T . Thorpe

P . M . 523 , P . P . S . G . W ., for the services they had given to the lodge , Ihey being two of the few brethren who still remained amoigst them who were present at the ceremony of consecration . Bros . Partridge a-d Thorpe , in a few appropriate words , acknowledged the vote , and hoped they would be spared to visit the Commercial Lodge for many years to come . Bro . S . Knight , P . , Organist , with a jewel , he having acted as Organist to the lodge for the past seven year ? , and had been a most regular attendant at the meetings . Bro . G . O . D ., in accordance with notice of motion , proposed "That the sum of 10 guineas be voted

from the lodge funds to be pbced on Bro . J . H . Thompson ' s list as Charity Steward for the Boys' Institution . " Ths was seconded by Bro . Howe , supported by . Bro . Knight , and carried unanimously . Three candidates were ' proposed for initiation , and the Secretary read a long list of apologies for non-attendance , amongst whom were Bros , the Right Hon . the Earl Ferrars , P . G . The menus were much admired , having appropriate quotations from the Scotch poets—Burns and Scott—appended to every dish , officers , and toast . The VV . Duke Of Athol Lodge ( No . 210 ) . —There was a large assembly of the brethren , including several visitors , at the regular meeting of this lodge , on Wednesday , the 19 th ult ., at the Bowling Green Hotel , and the occasion was taken advantage of for presenting a handsome illuminated address , in album form , to Bro . F . M . Veevers ,

late J . W ., in recognition of his past services in the Lodge and Chapter of Faith , on his removal to Rochester . The lodge was opened by Bro . Chambers , W . M ., and the minutes read and confirmed , after which Bro . Foreman , P . M ., assisted by Bro . Bromley , P . M ., and the officers , initiated Mr . James Clough ; the ceremony was acknowledged to have been performed in a masterly and impressive

manner . The Worshipful Master then said he had a very pleasing duty to perform , that of presenting an address to Bro . Veevers , and in eulogistic terms referred to the services rendered , not only to the lodge , but * to the town generally , by Bro . The first page , which is full of detail and thought , is executed upon vellum . The border is taken from a MS . Breviary , or Book of Hours , once belonging to Queen Mary . The coat-of-arms of the

Duke of Athol Lodge is introduced in the title of the page , and the initial " W" commencing the address is a beautiful piece of illuminating , with the compass and square forming a background to the letter . Page two contains the body of the address , with four illuminated initials , the first showing the crest , coat-of-arms , and motto of the Veevers family , and

each of the remaining three bearing a Masonic emblem , introduced in an exceedingly neat and tasteful style , and page three , the chief feature of which is another initial " W , " faced by a Masonic pillar and displaying the mosaic pavement , there is here a delicate border of tracery work , with the commencement of the signatures , and page four contains the remaining names of subscribers to it .

C , presented a jewel of honour to that distinguished brother in acknow . ledgement of the many services he had rendered to the lodge during its existence—it now having attained its majority , being just 21 years since it was consecrated , and Bro . C . J . Wilkinson was the only founder now living wno had been a continuous member thereof , he always taking a

deep interest in everything connected with the lodge , and ready to give to every brother the benefit of his lono Masonic experience .
