The Council Meeting of our Boys' Institution last month proved of more than ordinary interest , as will be seen from the report in our pages this week . The subscribers must feel gratified to learn that the operation of the new laws in two instances has already proved

advantageous , and we congratulate the Province of Norfolk and the friends of the boy Jay who so narrowly missed election in October last upon his admission without having to incur the anxiety and expense of another contested election .

* # * The other instance upon which stress may be laid is the fact that the further investigation required to be made by the Petitions Committee into cases brought foward from previous elections , discloses the fact that in the short space of three months the circumstances

may entirely alter to justify the erasure of a candidate from the list . One case was so clearly ineligible , that the friends wisely withdrew the name without further discussion , and in the other it is clear that if the local lodge and the province withdrew the recommendations , the general body of subscribers have no reason to qnnnnrt a continuance of the candidature .

» * * We gladly give publication to the excellent summary of the year's work of the Board of Management as embodied in the Head Master ' s report . It proves conclusively that the Board has done well in its work of reorganisation and that the good effects of it are now beginning to be distinctly felt .
