Provincial Grand Lodge Of South Wales

The report of the Provincial Grand Lodge Committee was then read , from which it appeared that a petition for a lodge at Treharris had been presented , and would receive the consideration of the Prov . Grand Master in due course . The Prov . Grand Treasurer ' s accounts showed a credit balance of ^ 166 . It was recommended that 50 guineas be paid to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , and a like amount to the Masonic Educational and

Widows' Fund . During the past year Bro . W . G . Davies , P . M . 364 , acted as Prov . Grand Steward for the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , and it was further reported that up to August , 1895 , the local Masonic Educational and Widows' Fund hid a credit balance of £ 1464 . A large number of grants were recommended , and it was announced that during the year ended December 31 st , 1894 , 106 candidates had been initiated in the province , while there were 28 joining members . The report was adopted .

Bro . Lird LLANGATTOCK , in responding , referred with pleasure to the vitality of Freemasonry in Cardiff , and to the progress which the Order was making throughout the Eastern Division . Bro . RADLEY next proposed " The Masonic Charities , " to which Bro . J , TERRY , Sec . R . M . B . I ., responded .

Bro . DOVEY , who received a most flattering reception , made a very felicitous response . Other toasts followed . During the evening Bro . Arthur Johnson ' s band played a selection of music , and a musical programme was gone through under the direction of Bro . G . H . Cole , F . CO . A word of praise should be accorded Bro . F . J . Ferris Bailey , upon whom the responsibilities of the arrangements for the banquet devolved . These responsibilities were discharged with great administrative skill .

The Prov . Grand Treasurer ' s statement was duly received , and certain sums were voted to the Masonic Charities , on the motion of Comp . Dr . HILL DRURY , seconded by Comp . F . H . BENNETT . The roll of chapters was called , when the chief officers of each chapter present read their statements , which were generally very satisfactory . The GRAND SUPERINTENDENT then briefly addressed the Prov . Grand

Chapter , and congratulated it upon its steady progress . He was sure all mourned the loss of Comp . J . A . Witter , and condoled with the St . Bede ' s Chapter on their loss . Comp . The Prov . Grand Treasurer ' s statement was duly received , and certain sums were voted to the Masonic Charities , on the motion of Comp . Dr . HILL DRURY , seconded by Comp . F . H . BENNETT . The roll of chapters was called , when the chief officers of each chapter present read their statements , which were generally very satisfactory . The GRAND SUPERINTENDENT then briefly addressed the Prov . Grand

Chapter , and congratulated it upon its steady progress . He was sure all mourned the loss of Comp . J . A . Witter , and condoled with the St . Bede ' s Chapter on their loss . Comp .
