After the ccn . lusinn of the work , the brethren adjourned to thi cus'o . mary banquet , which was held at the Jubilee School Ro ., m , about 5 > sitting down . The usual Masonic toasts were interspersed with songs by Miss Annie Cheal , G S . M ., Miss Annie Robinson , Bro . G . H . Daws-: n , and Messrs . Fred . C Everitt and Hook .

A pleasing episode' occurred during the evening . Bro . John Welford with his accustomed generosity , headed a subscripti n list with 12 guineas , being 10 guineas for himself and one guinea each for his wife and daughter , for the purpose of clearing the lodge from debt , and his example so stipulated the brethren present that nearly the whole of the amount required , viz ., £ 50 , was at once subscribed , Bro . Welford again coming forward to make up th « deficiency in the amount .

lhe Wcrshipful Masttr is to be congratulated upon being able to commence his year of office free from monetary embarassment . Thus , in this pleasant and fraternal manner , was terminated the most pleasant and successful meeting the Bradstow Lodge has ever held .

The Monthly Council Meeting was held at Freemasons' Hall on Friday , the 27 th ult ., Bro . R . Eve in the chair . Amongst those present were Bros . Adamson , Fairchild , Cumberland , Kempster , C . W . Hudson , John Strachan , C . Pulman , and H . Imray .

After the usual routine business it was reported that a boy had been discharged before the expiration of his term and at the request of his parent . The Council therefore resolved to recommend the Quarterly Court of the nth instant to declare a further vacancy , making 17 instead of 16 to be elected .

A letter from the Head Master thanking the Council for his recent increase of salary was read .

BRO . THE REV . C . VV . SPENCER-STANHOPE , P . G . C . The distinguished brother to whose death we refer in our "Notes , " was initiated in the Apollo University Lodge , No . 357 , Oxford , in 1862 . Not long afterwards he became a joining member of the Churchill Lodge , No . 47 8 , and was elected its W . M . in iSc 6 , having in the interim had the collar of Prov . J . G . D . of Oxfordshire conferred upon him . The sam : year he was elected a joining

member of the Westminster and Keystone Lodge , No . 10 , while in i 860 . having been sometime previously advanced to to the Mark Degree he was installed W . M . of the University Lodge of Mark Masters , No . 55 , Oxford , and appointed Grand Chaplain of the Mark Grand Lodge . Hiving been exalted to the Royal Arch in the Alfred Chapler , No . 340 , Oxford , he became one of the founders , later in the same year , of the Apollo University Chapter , No . 357 , and was installed as its first J ., while in 1870 he became its H . He was appointed Prov . Grand

Chaplain of Cheshire in 1873 , and in 18 79 and 1880 he received the collar of the Grand Chaplain of the Grand Lodge of England . In 1888 he was installed Grand Superintendent of Cheshire , while in the Order of the Temple he was Past E . C . of the Cu . 'ur de Lion Preceptory , and five years later he was honoured with the office of Prov . Prior of Cheshire . He was likewise a member of the Ancient and Accepted Rite , and took the 32 ° in 1879 . As regards our Institutions our deceased brother had qualified as a Life Governor of each of them and had also served sundry Stewaroships in their behalf .

MASONIC SERVICE AT NFAYBURGH .

A Masonic service , under the auspices of Lindores Lodge , No . 106 , was held in the Established Church on Sunday , the 22 nd ult ., there also being present a contingent from Dundee and the brethren from King Robert the Bruce Lodge , Ladybank . The brethren from Dundee were conveyed in the steamers Argyll and Scotia , and , on account of a mishap to the latter steamer , those on board were half-an-hour late in arriving .

The Prov . Grand Chaplain of Fife and Kinross , Bro . the Rev . G . S . ANDEKSON of Kilrenny , preached a most appropriate discourse from Hebrews , xiii . and I — " Let brotherl y love continue , " and a collection was taken for Charitable purposes . After service , the brethren , under the supervision of Sergeant-Instructor Currie , of M Company , 6 th V . B . R . H ., formed and inarched to the Masonic Hall , where refreshments were served . Before dispersing , a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . the Rev , Anderson and the visiting brethren .
