Saturday , the 26 th inst ., will be ex-pupils day , and , as usual , the House Committee of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls will be pleased to see as many
ex-pupils as can make it convenient to attend between the hours of three and S p . m . The Committee , however , wish to impress upon ex-pupils that the day is set apart for them and them only , and that visitors arc not invited or expected to attend .
* » * We shall soon have occasion to refer at greater ' ength to the approaching Festival on behalf of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys . But just now we may venture to point out that the need for a very substantial addition to the Board of Stewards for that event is
becoming daily more and more apparent . Since we wrote our article of a fortnight since , there have been withdrawals on the part of many who had entered their names to serve this year , and , as a result , the total is not very greatly in advance of what it then was . However , there are still between three and four weeks
between now and the date appointed for the celebration , and we trust that even in that short time we may find that the Board which is to support the Chairman at the third great anniversary meeting of the year is more nearly on a level with those which acted for the Benevolent and Girls' School Festivals .
» » « We desire this , not only for the sake of the Boys Institution itself , which undoubtedly has great need ol the loyal help of the whole English Craft , but likewise because we are anxious that the celebrations held during the Queen ' s Di . mond Jubilee year should be worthy of so momentous an occasion . Everybody is working his

hardest for his pel Institution , and the calls that are being made on the pockets of her Majesty ' s lieges are legion . But there are but three Central Masonic Institutions . Two have celebrated their Anniversary with marked success , and wo trust that the Boys' School Festival , which has yet to come , may be , as nearly as
circumstances permit , on a level with those which have preceded it . We realise that a 99 th Anniversary is awkwardly circumstanced . Its friends and supporters are ready and willing to do it suit and service , but they are all desirous of figuring in the Centenary Returns ,
and it is feared that those of the year preceding it may suffer proportionately . But be this as it may , the funds for the present year must be forthcoming , and it is for those we are appealing , and shall feel it our duty to appeal still more earnestly either next week or the week that follows .
# * Our Nottinghamshire brethren have resolved en celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with the utmost possible eclat , a programme for Thursday , the 24 th inst ., having been already arranged , which we doubt not will be a great attraction to the worthy citizens of
Nottingham . The brethren are to meet and clothe at the Albert Hall , Derby-road , and will then be marshalled in procession and march to St . Mary ' s Church , where service will be held , the sermon being preached by Bro . the Very Rev . the Dean of York , Past G Chaplain , and the offertory devoted lo the Jubilee Fund
for the General Hospital , inaugurated by the Lord Lieutenant of the Counly , Bro . the Duke of St . Albans , Prov . G . Master On returning to the Albert Hall a luncheon will be served , at which the only toast to be proposed will be that of "The Queen and the Craft . "
* But this by no means represents the arrangements for the day , which is lo be entirely Jubilee . At 5 p . m . there will be a conversazione at the Castle , at which brethren , who till this will have been restricted to Craft clothing and jewels , will be at liberty to appear in the
clothing and jewels of any Degree to which they may belong . During the time set apart Cor the reception of visitors , the band of the Robin Hood Rilles will play a choice selection of music ; from 6 to S p . m . there will be a concert by the Forester Glee Singers , and from 8 to 9 . 3 U p . m . Shakespeare ' s " Midsummer
Night ' s Dream will be performed by . Mr . Ben Greet s Dramatic Company . At 10 p . m . there will be an illumination of the Castle and grounds by electric light , and with further music by the band , glee singers , Court Card Pierrots Quartette , a further hour will pass , and at 11 p . m . the whole will conclude with the National Anthem .
The proceedings will extend throughout the whole of the day and we trust that everything may be carried out satisfactorily . Non-Masons and ladies will be admitted , tickets to admit one brother and two ladies , or one lady and one non-Mason being issued at 21 s ., and light refreshments will be provided during the evening ; but as the number of tickets will be limited ,
application should be made as soon as possible to tho Prov . G . Secretary ; to Bro . J . T . Spalding , Long Row , Nottingham ; Alfred Page , Maypole Yard , or to C . A . Bolton Carlton-street , Nottingham . Wc can only hope that as soconsiderablc a part of the day ' s proceedings will take place-in the open , the Clerk of the Weather will be more than usually consideiate . * * *
The Quarterly Communication of the Grand Lodge of Matk Master Masons was held on Tuesday , the 1 st instant , when the programme of business , as announced in our issue of last week , was fully carried out . There was , however , an addition in the shape of an address to Her Majesty the Queen on the approaching
completion of the 60 th year of her reign . This address it was proposed on the motion of the Pro Grand Master , seconded by the Deputy G . Master , to present to the Queen , and it is needless to say the motion was carried amid every possible demonstration of enthusiasm . # * *
T he other business was carried out satisfactorily nor is there any need for us to offer any comment thereon It may , however , be worthy of notice that among the brethren upon whom his Royal Highness the M . W . Grand Master has . been pleased to confer grand honours this year , are two to whom special reference may pro perly
be made . Bro . F . II . Westlake , who was appointed and invested as Junior G . Deacon , received Grand honours in the Order of the Temple only about three weeks since , and there are but few who are the recipients of such distinctions in two separate and distinct branches of Masonry in so short a time . The other

case is that of Bro . Henry Sadler , Grand Tyler and Sub-Librarian of United Grand Lodge , upon whom H . R . H . [ the Mark Grand Master has been pleased to confer the collar of Grand I . G ., an honour which we need not say is very highly appreciated , and , we know most richly deserved . Bro . Sadler is an able exponent of the Mark as he is of the Craft ritual , and for this alone is worthy of the honour he has just received .
* * * The Finance Committee of the Prov . G . Lodge of Hertfordshire was held at Freemasons' Hall on Wednesday , the 2 nd instant . Bro . T . F . Halsey , M . P ., presided , and among the brethren present were Bros . George E . Lake , P . G . D ., D . P . G . M . ; F . Sumner Rnyvctt , P . G . D ., Prov . G . Treas . ; Charles
Bullock , Prov . G . Sec . ; and James Terry , P . G . S . B ., Sec . R . M . B . I ., Prov . G . D . of C . The accounts were audited and notices of motion were given for the annual meeting , which will be held at High Barnet at the invitation of the Gladsmuir Lodge , No . 13 S 5 , on a day yet to be fixed in the latter half of July . * * *
It has also been arranged that the foundation-stone of the new parochial schools at Berkhampstcad shall be laid with Masonic ceremonial on Tuesday , the 13 th prox ., under the presidency of Bro . T . F . Halsey M . P ., Prov . G . Master . # * *
We are informed that all seats for the Albert Hall Masonic meeting , on Monday , the 14 th instant , applied for up to the nighc of Saturday , the 22 nd May , to the number of upwards of 5500 , have been allotted and that the cards of admission were posted on Thursday .
A second distribution will probably be made to-morrow ( Saturday ) , after which the available scats may possibly be confined to a limited number in the tv / o front rows of the gallery . 1 j . *
The seats being of different values , the scheme ol allotment adopted has been the fairest that could be devised , namely , on the basis of the concert prices of tickets . Each lodge , regardless of its number , has received tickets of the same aggregate value In proportion lo the number applied for .
* The following circular has also been issued by the Grand Secretary : " The applications for tickets have been so numerous that all the best scats have-already been allotted , and applications can only now be received conditionally on sufficient room being available , possibly in the Gallery . " * * *
It is with very sincere regret we announce the death of Bro . W . G . Lemon , P . A . G . D . C ., whose decease occurred at his residence , The Retreat , Ulackheath S . E ., on Wednesday , the 26 th ult . Our late brother had been a member of the Craft for 30 years , having been initiated in the Lodge of Honour and Generosity
in 1 S 67 , and installed its W . M . in 1 S 74 . He had also served as 'Treasurer ol the lodge tor many years and had only resigned that post the day preceding his death . Bro . Lemon was appointed A . G . D . C . in 1 S 90 and a few days later Grand Standard Bearer of Supreme Grand Chapter . He was also a Past
Senior Grand Overseer of Mark Grand Lodge , had taken the 30 in the Ancient and Accepted Rite , and was a member of the Executive Council of the Order of Rome and the Red Cross of Constantino . He was , too , a Life Governor of all our Institutions
and had rendered them valuable service as Steward on several occasions . Wc offer our respectful sympathy to the members of his family and also to the Lodge of Honour and Generosity of which he had been so respected a member during the whole of his Masonic career .
* * * The fifth annual communication of the Grand Lodge of Oklohama was held at Norman in February last , under the presidency of Bro . Henry Roseby , M . W . G . Master , who was fortunately in a position to speak favourably of the progress which Freemasonry had
made in the jurisdiction during the brief period that Grand Lodge had been in existence . Though only five years have elapsed since the Grand Lodge was constituted , there are already 31 lodges , averaging 40 members each , on the roll , and the Grand Master claims with pride that " in these same lodges is taught Masonry as pure and exact as in any lodge on earth ,
and among our membership is that Masonry that not only inculcates brotherly love , relief and truth , but actually practices them . " We are pleased to hear of sach a report of the Craft in so young a jurisdiction , and trust that as the years go on , successive Grand Masters may be equally fortunate in their reports . Bro . Albert W . Fisher is the new Grand Master , and Bro . James S . Hunt , Grand Secretary .
