M . and he had had a great treat . Bros . Frank Urch , 715 , and J . Ortner , 1767 , also acknowledged the toast . Bro . 1 . Bunker , P . M . 11 sS , said that as intimated by the W . M . it was not his first , as

it had been his great privilege to attend their good lodge on very many occasions , but he always came there with a deal of pleasure , which had been enhanced by that nieht ' s work and by seeing the W . M . in his place . He had watched the career of the W . M . with much interest ; he had known him for many years and he loved him and his father . He was a credit to the lodge and the stock from which he came . Bro . R . T . West also responded .

In submitting the toast of "The Worshipful Master elect , Bro . F . C . Lin ' ott , " the W . M . stated that they need have no fear as to the future of the lodge in Bro . Lintott ' s hands , as he was a Mason of the right sort and his working of the ritual would be a credit to the lodge and he would be able to do everything to their entire satisfaction . Bro . F . C . Lintott , S . W . and W . M . elect responded . He thanked them most sincerely for the great honour they had conferred upon him , and he would do his very

and Clay , 1 st A . S . The report of the Audit Committee was received and adopted . A Past Principal ' s jewel was presented to Comp . Lingley . A vote of condolence was passed , with many expressions of sympathy , to the widow and family of Comp . Charles Colwell , and a funeral wreath was ordered to be forwarded , under the care of Comp . Lirgley , I . P . Z ., as representing ^ the chapter . The chapter was then closed . A banquet followed , but , in consequence of the sad event above alluded to , the proceedings were necessarily shorn of their usually festive nature .

Comp . George Everett , P . G . Treas ., in responding for the toast of " The Grand Officers , Present and Past , " said it was a pleasant duty to be enabled to announce that the members of Grand Lodge and Chapter would be very much to the fore at two forthcoming functions . Their distinguished and popular brother and companion , the Right Hon . the Earl of Lathom , Pro G . M . and Pro G . Z ., would attend a Masonic service at the Collegiate Church of St . Saviour , Southwark , on the 27 th inst ., supported by a great

number of other members cf Grand Lodge and Chapter , and on the 14 th June , H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , M . W . G . M ., and G . Z ., would preside at the Albert Hall function in connection with the Queen ' s Jubilee . He trusted that both meetings wou Id in every way be successful . In cinclusion he spoke feelingly of Comp . Colwell who , in the prime of life had passed away , leaving a widow and seven children , he regretted to say , in very poor circumstances .

Thel . P . Z . proposed "The Health of the M . E . Z . " in very flattering terms . He said that Comp . Buxtcn had been initiated in the Kennington Lodge and subsequently exalted in the chapter attached to it . He had been their genial host and caterer for some years and when he left the Tavern he had carried with him the respect and esteem of evt ry one .

The M . E . Z . having replied , then gave the remaining toasts in quick succession . Coirps . Lingley and Lardner responded for "The Past Principals , " Comp . H . Higgins tor " The S . The hotel is being considerably enlarged and improved , but , to the regret of the members of No . 1929 , the cosy , old-fashioned dining-room and its panelled walls , quaint alcoves , and tecesses of early iSth century work , has gone the way of all things . Upon the removal of the cloth a few toasts were given , but purely of a formal nature , as privacy was not obtainable , in consequence of the rebuilding of the private diningrooms .

A most excellent banquet having been served and highly appreciated , the customary toasts were duly proposed and acknowledged . Bro . George Everett , S . G . D ., responded in happy terms on behalf of "The Grand Officers , Present and Past . " He particularly thanked the W . M . for the kind words he had used in mentioning his name , and also for the very warm manner in which the brethren had received the subject toast in general , and his humble name in particular . In conclusion , he said that he always enjoyed himself in their midst , and he frequently

gave up other engagements in order to be present at No . 1 S 1 . " The Health of the Worshipful Master " followed . " Bro . Forge , in responding , said that he felt highly gratified in being Master of so good a lodge , and one bearing so honoured a name . He had , unfortunately , entered Mark Masonry somewhat late in life , and , therefore , could not speik of the Digree in the same terms as many then present , but he liked it very much , and hoped in time to emulate the excellent working that they had seen and enjoyed that day .

The toast of "The Installing Master " was received with quite an ovation , and the recipient , who was evidently overcome by this evidence of good feeling , said but little in response . Bro . J . J . Thomas , P . G . S ., in responding for "The Visitors , " expressed how greatly he had been impressed by the installation ceremony as worked by Bro . _ Bonney , I . P . M . He was also delighted with the hospitality of the lodge , and the entertainment of vocal harmony , which he was given to understand had been furnished by the liberality

of the W . M . Bros . J . T . Briggs and C H . Kohler replied on behalf of "The Past Masters ; " Bros . W . Fisher and T . C . Walls for " The Treasurer and Secretary ; " and Bros . H . Higgins , J . The W . M . stated that it was not his intention that evening to give the whole of the toasts in connection with their excellent Order . The toasts given were "The Oueen and Mark Masonry , " "The Grand Master , " "The Pro G . M . and Dep . G . M ., " and "The Visitors . " However , "The Health of the W . M . " was added , and received with great warmth . The proposer of the toast mentioned that the W . M ., in order to be at his post , had travelled that day upwards of 200 miles , and it was to b ; rejretted that hii desire to discharge the work of installing his successor had not been accomplished . The proceedings then terminated .

Wetton to the Degree of M . M . The lodge was then resumed in the First Degree and Bro . Reid duly initiated , both ceremonies bring- rehearsed by the W . M . in a most masterly manner .
