PAST DEPUTY GRAND SWORD BEARER . Bro ARMAND WILLIAM D URET was initiated in the Athenaeum Lodge , No . HOI in November , 1874 , and was installed W . M . in 1898 . But in the interval of 11 vears he did good service in other directions . Thus , in 1876 , he joined the Amherst Lodge , No . 1223 , Riverhead , and served as W . M . in 187 8 . Two years later he became a founder of the Lodge of Progress , No . 1768 , and in 1881 ,

presided over it as Master . In 1882 , he assisted in the founding of the Eastes Lodge , No 1965 , Bromley ( Kent ) , and in 1887 , of the Pantiles Lodge , No . 2200 , Tunbridge Wells his services to the Craft in the Province of Kent , being recognised by his appointment the same year as Prov . S . G . D . His services to the Royal Arch have been quite as conspicuous , but in another Province . He was exalted in the Burdett Chapter , No . 1293 , Hampton Court , in May , 1879 , and was installed Twicken

M E . Z . in 1888 . In 1881 , he joined the Royal Union Chapter , No . 3 82 , - ham and has thrice occupied the chair of First Principal Z „ namely , in 1884 , in 180 V and in 1892 . In 1887 , he was appointed Prov . G . J . Middlesex , He has , moreover , done splendid service for our Institutions , having made himself Vice-Patron of the Girls' School , with 12 Stewardships ; Vice-Patron Boys' School , with seven Stewardships ; and Vice-President of the Benevolent Institution , with four Stewardships .

PAST GRAND STANDARD BEARERS . Bro . H ENRY CARMAN was initiated in the Wellington Lodge , No . 548 , on the 14 th January , 1879 , and nas tnus heen a member of ourSociety for 21 years . After passing through the minor offices he was elected and installed W . M . of his mother lodge . He is also a Past Prov . G . Org-inist of Northants and Hunts , his connection with that province having been brought about by his election as a

joining member of St . Peter ' s Lodge , No . 442 , Peterborough . IJe has also been elected a joining member of the Fellowship Lodge , No . 2535 , and the Thomas a Becket Lodge , No . 2754 . He is a Royal Arch Mason , having been exalted in the Wellington Chapter , No . 54 8 , on the 27 th April , 1880 , and installed in the chair of M . E . Z . in 1889 . It was also in the latter year that he became a founder and is the present Scribe E . of the Frederick Chapter of Unity , No . 452 . He is a

Mark Master Mason , a Knight Templar , and a member of the Invicta Rose Croix Chapter , No . 10 , and has taken the 30 ot the Ancient and Accepted Rite . As regards our Institutions , he has served as many as 24 Stewardships , namely , six for the Girls' School , 10 for the Boys' School , and eight for the Benevolent Institution , and is a Vice-Patron of all three , while , in addition , he is a supporter and has served several Stewardships for the Mark Benevolent Fund .

Bro . WILLIAM BARNES FENDICK is a Mason of nearly a quarter of a century ' s standing , having been initiated in the Emblematic Lodge , No . 1321 , on the nth May . 1876 . In , 188 4 he had the honour of being installed in its chair of Master . He lias also been a very active member in other directions , but especially in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire , in both of which Provinces he has had honours conferred upon him . In 1889 he helped to found , and is a P . M . of , the Christopher

Lodge , No . 2309 , Eton . In 1892 he became a founder of St . Martin ' s Lodge , No . 2455 , while in the following year he rendered a like service , firstly , in behalf of the Eton Lodge , No . 2458 , of which he was the first ( acting ) P . M ., and then of the Ascot Lodge , Np . 2460 , Ascot , of which he was founder and first W . M . In recognition of these services he is now a P . P . G . S . B , Bucks and P . P . S . G . D . of Berks . He is also a present member of the Board of General Purposes . He was exalted a Royal Arch Mason in the Domatic Chapter on the 25 th October , 1883 ,

and was installed M . E . Z . in March , 1889 . He is a founder and LP . Z . of the Emblematic Chapter , No . 1321 , and also a founder of the Bevan Chapter , No . 2458 , Eton . In 1897 ne wat honoured with the appointment of P . G . Std . Br . of Supreme Grand Chapter . In the A . and A . Rite he is a P . M . W . S . of the Palestine Rose Croix Chapter , No . 29 . As a supporter of our Institutions he has done good service to the three , having qualified as a Vice-President of each , and served in all 15 Stewardships .

Bro . ROBERT J AMES VOISEY was initiated in the Sphinx Lodge , No . 1329 , in March , 18 75 , and was installed W . M . in 1886 . But , previous to this latter event happening , he had twice occupied the chair of a lodge . In December , 18 7 6 , he became a founder , and in 1880 the W . M . of the Crichton Lodge , No . 1641 , while in May , 1882 , he was the principal founder and first W . M . of the Duke of Albany Lodge , No . 1983 . In Royal Arch Masonry , to which he was exalted in

the Sphinx Chapter , No . 1329 , he ranks as Past Z ., having been installed in the chair of First Principal Z . in No . 1329 in the year 1884 , and , having in 1890 joined , and in 18 92 been installed M . E . Z . of the Macdonald Chapter , No . 1216 . He is also a Mark Master Mason , a Past E . P . of the Lullingstone Preceptory , No . 155 , in the Order of the Temple , G . Preceptor in the Grand Senate of the Order of Rome

and Red Cross of Constantine , G . Lecturer in the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters , and a member of Adoniram Rose Croix Chapter , No . 101 , and has taken the 30 ° in the A . and A . Rite . He is a Life Governor of all three Institutions , and also of the Mark Benevolent Fund , and has served two Stewardships for each of the Schools and one for the Benevolent Institution , with sundry for the Mark Fund .

M ., whose earnest and very impressive rendering ot the ceremony and the Ancient Charge thoroughly deserved the hearty commendations passed by the brethren present . The music used during the lodge proceedings was the composition of the W . M ., Bro . McLean , Mus . Bac . A Past Master's jewel was presented to the I . P . M ., and suitably acknowledged . One guinea was voted to the Old Masonians Association , and five guineas to the South African Masonic Relief Fund . Notice of motion was given to vote 25 guineas to the

Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution . Lodge was then closed , and a banquet followed . He was exceedingly sorry that some brother in the higher walks was not present to do better honour to the toast . A great many Grand Officers were engaged in one capacity or another , and many of them were now fighting the battles of our country and Queen in South Africa , including Lord Roberts . It was his duty to assist in the investiture of that brother as S . G . W . some years ago , and also of Lord Methuen in the same capacity . He was better acquainted with Sir Charles

Warren , with whom he took an active part in the formation of a lodge of which he wis the first W . M . These brethren might be taken as a fair sample of the Body . He to > k this opportunity of congratulating the W . M . on occupying the chair in this very distinguished and highly conducted lodge . He would also congratulate the brethren on having such a Master to fill the chair . After something like 40 years in Masonry and a good share during that period , having been a teacher of Masonry—he did not remember ever enjoying listening to the ceremonies of installation and initiation better than

he had that night . He hoped they would excuse this digression for those who knew him would say that praise from him was praise indeed . He hoped and trusted that the accession to membership would prove as good in the future as it augured that evening . He noticed particularly how impressed the two candidates were , and he could not well see how they could be otherwise . He thanked them for their kindness on this and former occasions , and he hoped on some future occasion when there was rather less

musical talent to again visit them , and , perhaps , tell them something of their lodge , its history , and of military Masons of the past . Bro . F . Hewson , I . P . M ., then proposed " The W . M ., " and said the members all congratulated themselves on having such a perfect Master as Bro . McLean had proved himself to be that evening in the working of the ceremonies . . He ( the I . P .
