Reynolds , and carried unanimously . The Secretary read the correspondence which included a letter from the VV . M . regretting his inability to attend on account of illness , also stating that he had receiver ! a private letter from the Grand Master of

Shryock , stating that he had received the illuminated vote of congratulation on the completion of the Grand Lodge of Maryland , and that a formal acknowledgment would be sent to the Anglo-American Lodge . The address was taken out by a member of the Covent Garden Lodge , Bro . G . Winter . The sum of ^ 5
was unanimously voted to a poor brother of the lodge out of the Benevolent Fund . The acting VV . M . proposed " That the lodge desire to express their deep regret at the absence of the VV . M . through illness , and the brethren wish him a speedy restoration to health . " Seconded by Bro . J . Skinner , J . W ., and carried unanimously . The lodge was then closed .

meeting were read and confirmed , The audit report and balance-sheet , showing no liabilities and a substantial balance , was approved . The new VV . M . presented , on behalf of the lodge , a handsome Past Master ' s jewel to the I . P . M ., Bro . Tibbatts , and in so doing said the lodge had every cause to be especially gratified at the manner in which he had conducted the lodge during his year of office . The
lodge was but young , and he did not wish to suggest that one of its rulers had acted better than the other , but he did venture to say that no one had more faithfull y discharged his duty than the brother he was then investing with the Past Master ' s jewel of the lodge . He did this with the best wishes of all the members of thc lodge , who hoped the reciient wouldenjoy long life and happiness to be among
p , them for many years to come . The sum of five guineas was voted to the R . M . I , for Girls , to be placed on the list of the , I . P . M ., who is acting as Steward for the next Festival of that Institution , and Bro . Hollington having signified his intention of giving 50 guineas towards the formation of a
Lodge Benevolent bund , a notice to establish such a fund at the next meeting was given by the Secretary . A proposition for initiation having been handed in , the lodge was closed , and the company adjourned to the banquet , which was admirably served under the personal supervision of Bro . Becker .
At the conclusion of the repast the customary toasts were honoured , Bros , the Rev . J . S . Brownrigg and Adams responding for "The Grand Officers . " The I . P . M . proposed " The Health of the VV . M . " He said he once more assumed the emblem of power in the lodge with infinite pleasure , beeause having passed through what he might term his 12 months' ordeal in the chair , he
was now in the position for the first time to propose the toast of its Master , and that pleasure was heightened because lie knew their present chief intended—provided he had health and strength—to make thc lodge better than it had been before . Ihe new ruler was no young Mason , for iS years ago he was a Master in Freemasonry , and he brought such experience to bear upon his present efforts as should
ensure their success . He was looking for the cordial assistance of every member of the lodge , and with that a successsful year would be assured . In reply , the Master , having tendered his thanks , said no one could help feeling , when so 1 > ng a period as iS years was spoken of as having elapsed since a previous Mastership , that he was getting into the sere and yellow leaf . The Bishonscate Lodire had conferred on him the highest
honour it was in the hands of the members to bestow , and regognising this , he assured them he should endeavour to act up to the standard they desired for the lodge . The toasts of "The Visitors , " / 'The Past Masters , " and "The Treasurer , Secretary , and Director ol Cere"lonies , " were next given and responded to . An excellent selection of solos and part songs were arranged for under the direction of Bro . Dr . J . F . Haskins ' '• I' . G . O . Essex .

The brethren afterwards dined together , the usual toasts , pleasantly interspersed with songs by Bros . Mason , Baxter , Inglis and other members , being duly honoured .

M ., who is acting as Steward for the next Festival of that Institution , and Bro . Hollington having signified his intention of giving 50 guineas towards the formation of a
Lodge Benevolent bund , a notice to establish such a fund at the next meeting was given by the Secretary . A proposition for initiation having been handed in , the lodge was closed , and the company adjourned to the banquet , which was admirably served under the personal supervision of Bro . Becker .
At the conclusion of the repast the customary toasts were honoured , Bros , the Rev . J . S . Brownrigg and Adams responding for "The Grand Officers . " The I . P . M . proposed " The Health of the VV . M . " He said he once more assumed the emblem of power in the lodge with infinite pleasure , beeause having passed through what he might term his 12 months' ordeal in the chair , he
was now in the position for the first time to propose the toast of its Master , and that pleasure was heightened because lie knew their present chief intended—provided he had health and strength—to make thc lodge better than it had been before . Ihe new ruler was no young Mason , for iS years ago he was a Master in Freemasonry , and he brought such experience to bear upon his present efforts as should
ensure their success . He was looking for the cordial assistance of every member of the lodge , and with that a successsful year would be assured . In reply , the Master , having tendered his thanks , said no one could help feeling , when so 1 > ng a period as iS years was spoken of as having elapsed since a previous Mastership , that he was getting into the sere and yellow leaf . The Bishonscate Lodire had conferred on him the highest
honour it was in the hands of the members to bestow , and regognising this , he assured them he should endeavour to act up to the standard they desired for the lodge . The toasts of "The Visitors , " / 'The Past Masters , " and "The Treasurer , Secretary , and Director ol Cere"lonies , " were next given and responded to .
