SUPREME GRAND CHAPTER .
The Quarterly Convocation of Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of England was held on Wednesday evening' at Freemasons' Hall , London . Comp . W . W . B . Beach , M . P ., G . J ., presided as G . M . E . Z . ; Comp . Col . G . Noel Money , C . B ., Grand Superintendent Surrey , acted as G . H . ; and
Comp . William Harling Sissons , J . P ., Grand Superintendent Lincolnshire , as G . J . Comp . Edward Letchworth , G . S . E ., occupied his appointed position , and Comp . Capt . N , G . Philips acted as G . Scribe N . Comp . Sir George David Harris acted for Comp . Robert Grey , as President of the Committee of General Purposes . About 250 companions were present .
After the minutes of the February Convocation had been read and confirmed , Comp . Sir J . V B . MONCKTON , F . S . A ., P . G . Soj ., rose ' and said : M . E . Z . in the chair , —I desire to offer to this Grand Chapter the name of a companion for the companions to elect as fit to occupy the office of Grand
Treasurer . Under ordinary circumstances it is customary for the Grand Treasurer of Grand Lodge in Craft Masonry also to have the compliment paid to him of adoption as Grand Treasurer of the Grand Chapter . But it so happens that this year the Grand Treasurer of the Craft is not qualified for the office in Grand Chapter . The companion I desire to offer to your
notice is Comp . Sir Lionel Darell , Bart ., whose Masonic history in a very few words I will give to Grand Chapter . Sir Lionel Darell is not a Mason of yesterday . He was made a Mason in the Apollo University Lodge of Oxford more than 30 years ago , so that he is not a Masonic baby . He afterwards joined the Churchill and the Studholme , of which he
became Master . He is a member of the Prince of Wales ' s Lodge , whose Grand Steward he was , and he was in his year of Grand Stewardship elected President of the Board of Grand Stewards . He is also a country brother as well as a London one , being a member of the Royal Gloucestershire Lodge , No . 831 ) . On behalf of Royal Arch
Masonry , he is a member and M . K . First Principal of the Studholme Chapter , No . 1591 . In Sir Lionel Darell ' s career the Charities of the Craft have not be forgotten . He served as Steward for the Girls' Centenary Festival , and since that time he has been President of the Board of Stewards of the Old People , and I believe has served one or more other Stewardships , of
which , on account of his modesty , he has not informed me . I have not had it myself from him , and , as I have not had an opportunity of seeing him on the subject , I have not been able to ascertain it . I think , speaking of him as a good man and a good Mason , he is in every sense worthy to be elected Grand Treasurer by Grand Chapter . I am reminded that he is an heredi .
tary Mason , for his father and grandfather were members of distinction in the lodge ; so that he is not a new or a mushroom Mason , but a good Mason as well as a good man in the Craft . He is a Past Senior G . Deacon of the year 188 9 , so that he has been good enough to hold high office in Grand Lodge . I now leave the name of Sir Lionel Edward Darell , Bart ., before Grand Chapter for election .
Comp . FREDERICK . MEU > , P . D . G . D . C : M . E ., 1 hive th ; greatest pleasure in seconding the nomination of Sir Lionel Darell . Everything stated by Sir John Monckton is sure to be perfectly and thoroughly correct , and I am sure I shall be acling in accordance ; with the wishes of the companions present if I say as few words as possible on the present occasion .
sir Lionel Darell is known for his good Masonic work in London and also in nis native Province of Gloucestershire , where he is a leading Masonic light . He is a good supporter of the Charities , of which he has served the office of Steward . He is held in the highest respect by all who know him , and he is reall y beloved by those who know him ultimately . I consider him an
excellent candidate for the office of Grand Treasurer , and I hope he will be elected to-night , and if he is , I know the election will be a papular one in the Royal Arch Degree . Comp . H . J . Lutn ' xKU , P . / ..: M . E . / .., I beg to propose for election ( omp . William Mason Stiles , P . Z ., and I think on thc present occasion it is
hardl y necessary for me to explain to you the various qualifications for that 0 | lice . If he is elected to-night " will be somewhat of a solace to him for his defeat in the election of Grand
