The installation being completed , and all other business for the benefit of the lodge transacted , it was closed by the W . M ., and the brethren subsequently celebrated the Festival of St . John with a banquet , at which Bro . Frank Roberts presided , and the toasts were rapidly given and very brief . The Worshipful Master , in proposing " The Heath of
the I . P . M ., " said it gave him very great pleasure indeed to do so . Before , however , he asked them to drink to Bro . J . W . Lees health , he would ask that brother to accept from him on behalf of the lodge a P . M . ' s jewel as a small token of the appreciation of the members for his valuable services during the Past year . The I . P . M . had so ably performed his duties in the chair that the jewel was his

M . and brethren for the very kind manner in which his name had been introduced and received , and also for the cordial manner in which he had been supported during his year of office . If he had carried out his duties to their satisfaction he was
more than satisfied . It was with pleasure he accepted the jewel from the members , for it would remind him of those friends with whom he had been connected for so many years . He hoped the W . M . would have as prosperous a year as he had , and as happy for its members . He again thanked them , and so long as he wore the jewel he hoped he should be connected with their lodge . All the other toasts having been given and responded to ,
a very pleasant evening terminated , and the visiting brethren must have carried home very pleasant recollections of the Imperial George Lodge installation , where during the whole evening only harmony and fraternal goodwill reigned . The above valuable P . M . ' s jewel was of rare workmanship , exquisitely finished , and was specially manufactured by Bro . George Kenning , 47 , Bridge-street , Manchester .
GUERNSEY . —Doyle ' s Lodge ( No . 84 ) . —The installation of the W . M . and investment of officers of this lodge for the ensuing year took place on St . John ' s Day , Dec . 27 th , at the Masonic Hall , in the presence of nearly all the members of the lodge , a numerous and very representative body of the brethren of the sister lodges of the Island , and other visitors . The ceremony was performed
by Bros . Wilkins , P . M ., and Ozanne , P . M ., who divided the work between them , and placed Bro . B . Cockburn , P . M . 278 and 1043 , in the chair . On the conclusion of this work , the brethren repaired to Bro . Gardner's , Royal Hotel , where the annual } banquet took place . After the usual loyal and Masonic toasts had been duly
honoured , The W . M ., in pioposvng the . toast of " The Provincial Grand Lodges and the Provincial Grand Officers then Present , " took occasion to point out the isolated position of the Guernsey and Alderney lodges , and the disadvantages under which they laboured from want of provincial association . Intimately connected as he now was with these
lodges , he felt he would be wanting in his duty if he failed to use every effort to remove this undesirable state of affairs . The W . M . spoke at some length , and concluded by urging the brethren to support him in his proposal to unite with the lodges of the sister Island of Jersey in forming one large and powerful province—a union of which he had no doubt that Grand Lodge would approve and be
pleased to sanction , and to style the Provincial Grand Lodge of the Channel Islands . Bro . the Rev . Charles Picot , Prov . Grand Chaplain of Jersey , responded to the toast , and in very felicitous terms hailed the prospective union of all the Channel Islands lodges with the greatest pleasure and satisfaction . In responding to the toast of "The Sister Lodges of the
Island , " Bros . Lovell , W . M . Mariners Lodge , and Barnes , W . M . Loyalty Lodge , made some excellent remarks pertinent to the change proposed by the VV . M . in the chair , and though they could not , of course , answer for all the members of their respective lodges , personally they would support the measure to the best of their ability . In responding for "The Visitors , " Bro . Le Mottee ,
P . M . 1174 , after claiming his right to a favourable hearing on the excellent giounds that although not at present a member of any Guernsey Iodge , yet his father was the W . M . of Doyle ' s at the time of his birth , and his grandfather was W . M . of the same lodge in 1818 , strongly urged the acceptance of the scheme for the union of all the Channel Islands lodges into one province .
Bro . Grseme , 1971 , although only a visitor , yet as nearly connected with the Island of Guernsey , also warmly seconded the adoption of the scheme . Thanks to the admirable arrangements of Bro . Dr . Hinton , Mus . Doc , P . M ., and to the great musical abilities of Bros . Carey , Rose , Shepherd , Smythson , Barnes , and Longman , the entertainment passed off in an admirable and most enjoyable manner .
We heartily congratulate the brethren of the Guernsey and Alderney lodges that what has been so long an anomaly appears now to be on the high road to a satisfactory termination . Doubtless ( his matter will now come without delay before all the ledges in a regular official manner ; and we sincerely trust that all the brethren will cordially unite in following the wise and judicious advice which has been tendered to them , and which , if realised , cannot fail to have the happiest results .
