Tlio Directors nre once more able to make tlie gratifying announcement that ihe pi-ogress of tlio Company during the past year lias been greater than any tbey have previously recorded , notwithstanding the fact that for five months during the year tho business was partly paralysed in one of the largest Divisions by thc South Wales trade disturbance . The Company ' s operations are now of : such magnitude that even a grave sh-ugglc such as this has beqn , with its far reaching consequences , is not sufficient to stem tlie tide of the Company ' s progress . The Directors think that thc following figures will be more eloquent than words in illustrating the Company ' s advance during the past three years : — Premiums . The Funds amount to £ 1 . 90 , 84 :. ) , shewing an addition for the year of £ 44 , 953 . The Premiums on Now Policies issued during- the year amount to £ 22 , 901 Ss . Sd ., assuring the sum of £ 555 , 977 . By virtue of the new methods of weekly classification of statistics referred to last year , Mr . Fea , the Compan y ' s Actuary , was enabled immediately after the close ol : the books to complete ; the valuation of the whole of the Company ' s business , Avitli results lhat reveal a surplus of I . v TIIK OIJ . The Premium Income on the policies in force on the Company ' s books , including 809 , 532 new policies issued during- 1 ho year , amounted to £ 717 , 528 0 s . 7 d . CLAIMS. The Company has paid 34 , 913 Life Claims , Grants , and Matured Endowments during the year , amounting , with Bonuses to £ 222 , 834 1 . 3 s . 8 d ., which , added to the sums previously paid in claims since the establishment of the Company , make a total of £ 2 , 187 , 398 15 s . 8 ( 1 .
