"COSMOPOLITAN MASONIC CALENDAR , 1 S 99 " ( London : Bro . George Kenning . Price , One shilling ) . —This is an old friend , and a most welcome one , as it is as indispensable as ever , for those who wish information about the Craft universal , and especially as to the "Higher" or additional Degrees . This very hand / and compact , little volume is in its 28 th year of publication , and contains more matter for iSgg . than in the previous issue , As the Brotherhood extends , so this most useful guide increases in bulk , and at the trilling cost of one shilling , its pages can be consulted as to all the Decrees worked in England , other than the Craft and Royal Arch—which are duly
found in the calendar of Grand Lodge published by the same well-known firm—and likewise as to all the Grand Lodges in the world ; fuller particulars being supplied as to Scotland and Ireland and the Colonies and Dependencies of the British Crown . All the names are given of the members of the Ancient and Accepted Rite , from the 30 th to the 33 rd Degrees inclusive , for England , Ireland , and Scotland , and Knight Templary for all three countries is very full y represented . Continental and American Freemasonry are carefully noted and described , and the Editor will only be too pleased and grateful to receive intimations of any errors , or desirable additions for another issue . It seeks to be for 1 S 09 , as in previous years , the Masonic " Who ' s -who " lor the Craft .

Conyers Lodge , No . 1916 . The 20 th anniversary of this lodge , holding under the Grand Lodge of England , was celebrated on January the 12 th , in their chambers , Lichfield-strcet , Christchurch , New Zealand . The special function was the installation of Bro . W . E . Chudley , Master elect , and the investiture of his officers . The occasion was full of surprises . Nous of the District Grand Lodge officers were present . The installation was conducted in the presence of a Board of 17 Installed Masters by the retiring W . M ., Bro . H . N ,
Martin , and the investiture of oliicers was done , as by law enjoined , by the incoming occupant of the chair . It was due to the circumstance that , owing to the full recognition of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand , the leading character in founding the Conyers Lodge , Bro . John Joyce , M . H . R ., and its first Master was enabled to take a prominent part in the ceremonial , delivering the impressive charges to the VV . M ., the Wardens , and the brethren . Bro . Chudley having been duly placed in the chair , the following officers were invested with their insignia : Bros . II . W . Martin , I . P . M . ; William Brew ,
S . W . j Charles E . Clarkson , I . W . ; Charles Duggan , Treas . ; William Cuming , P . M ., Sec ; James Allen , S . D . ; W . Ingram Ballinger , J . D . ; S . Clarke , P . M ., D . C ; Walter Langford , and J . F . Minchenton , Stwds . ; F . C . Harrow , Org . ; James Kennedy , I . C ; and John Mortlock , Tyler ( for the 13 th year ) . The lodge having been closed , an adjournment was made to the large hall on the ground Iloor , where an excellent supper had been provided , and here a large number of ladies were waiting to join in the festivities .
'I here was a really good programme of toasts , songs , and gramophone items , and the enjoyment of everyone present was evidently perfect . Amongst the vocalists were Miss Duggan and Bros . Harrow , Daltry , Broom , Barlow , and Brew . It is needless to state that the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were enthusiastically received in this remote land , and in submitting them special reference was made to the excellent manner the I . P . M . had observed and performed the privileges conferred by charter of installing his successor and affording a worthy example to futur ; aspirants to the highest honour a lodge can bestow .
