mystical lecture , after which Comp . Levander was introduced , and proceeded to deliver a lecture on " The R . A . Jewel and the Platonic Bodies , " illustrated by diagrams , models , & c . Comp . Levander said the lecture was compiled by his brother , the late Comp . Henry Levander , P . G . D . England , following partly on the same lines as that published by Comp . Colonel Greenlaw in 1 S 70 . That evening he commenced by dividing the subject into three heads , viz .: mathematical , philosophical , and Masonic ; exemplifying
each ; going through , step by step , the " several combinations ;" and clearly illustrating the Platonic theory , and how the angles in the jewel , when reduced to their prorer amount in right angles , are found equal to the four elements and the sphere of the universe , concluding his remarks by pointing out very forcibly that the jewel with its inscriptions reminds us of the Masonic and great moral lessons which all R . A . Masons are taught by it . The companions unanimously passed a cordial and hearty vote of thanks , to be entered on the minutes , to Comp . Levander for the able , scientific , and interesting lecture they had heard that evening ;
vvhich compliment he acknowledged iu suitable terms , and said on any future occasions the companions might desire again to hear the lecture , or part of it , he should be pleased to attend and deliver it . 1 le was deeply gratified at the reception that had been given him . A . Masons are taught by it . The companions unanimously passed a cordial and hearty vote of thanks , to be entered on the minutes , to Comp . Levander for the able , scientific , and interesting lecture they had heard that evening ;
vvhich compliment he acknowledged iu suitable terms , and said on any future occasions the companions might desire again to hear the lecture , or part of it , he should be pleased to attend and deliver it . 1 le was deeply gratified at the reception that had been given him . The ballot was then taken for the following companions , who were duly elected members , viz .: Comps . J . H . Wood , C . Coleman , J . * J . Cantle , and VV . VV . VVilliams , who all expressed great satisfaction and their thanks for the instruction and information they had received , and promised attendance as circumstances would permit . The M . E .
