To THR EDITOR OF THE Freemason . . The Managers of tiie Free Home for the Dying , 82 , The Chase Clapham , desire to thank the Fraternity for the kind and generous support they have hitherto given to the " Clarence " Bed in the above Home , and they trust that the friendly relations established by Captain Portlock-Dadson , may not in any way suffer by his withdrawal from the active work of Secretary , but may , indeed , be rather advanced by the fact that ho has left the post only to

attach himself more closely to the Masonic Brotherhood . It is , therefore , with coulidence that they bring the Homo again to their notice . A new ward has been opened , and now fifteen patients tan be accommodated instead of only nine , but this means heavier expenses on all sides , and it is t J meet these that they now make " an earnest and SPECIAL appeal for help .

British Produce Supply Association (Limited).

BRITISH PRODUCE SUPPLY ASSOCIATION ( LIMITED ) .

This Association which has established its quarters at Winchelsea House , Long Acre , W . C , has been formed for the purpose of enabling tho British public to obtain British Produce of gaurauteed quality direct from the producer . As everyone knows , the British farmer , owing to many causes , the principals of which are the variable nature of our climate and the heavy charges hitherto levied for the conveyance of his produce , has been very heavily handicapped as against the Foreign producer . Fortunately , however , there is just now a chance of his

redeeming his position to a certain extent , one or two of our great Bailway (^ nnpanies having either modilied their rates for the conveyance of farm produce or expressed their intention of doing so at an early date . This will enable to compete under more favourable conditions with his foreign rival , and as there is untiling like combination in enterprises of this kind , this British Produce Supply Association has been formed in the well founded belief that the British paterfamilias , if he can purchase it on reasonable terms , will prefer to be supplied with

llritish home-grown produce rather than that , grown in foreign countries . The Chairman of the Association is the Karl of Winchelsea aud Nottingham , who , since his accession to the title , has devoted himself with marvellous energy to helping the cause of British Agriculture , while the other members of the Board of Directors are Lord Kesteven , and Messrs . E . Owing Greening , Richard 11 . 15 . Orlebar . 11 . Henry Heed , and Cornelius Thompson ; the manager being Mr . Frank Dewar , and the secretary Mr . William Broomhall , from whom all necessary '

information can be obtained . We gather from the Prospectus , which has been issued , that , the prices charged for meat , provisions—that is to say , bacon , hams , butler , cheese , eggs , & c . —poultry , game , sausages , fruit in syrup and in bottles , and jams , with fruit and vegetables are supplied at , reasonable prices , which bo it remarked , are necessarily subject to market fluctuation . They are one and all marked ' Cable " brand , which is of itself a guarantee of llritish origin aud quality . The terms on which business is dime is cash with order , aud cheques aud Post Oilice Orders must be made payable to William llroomhall , and crossed London and

County Hank , Xew Oxford Street . Special quotations will be made for clubs , hotels , Ac . As regards the delivery of orders the Association undertakes lo deliver them promptly—in London and suburbs , free of charge , while special rates are charged for country orders . Respectable tradesmen in every district are invited to act as agents , and we hope to hear before long that by means of lliis Association , the llritish consumer is able to obtain without paying exorbitant prices for it , the beef and mutton , the hams and bacon , and dairy and market garden produce which is grown in the United Kingdom .
