For ( hough our brother was ehietly known hy his Oxford services , he was not unknown to fame elsewhere . He was one of ( lie small band of distinguished brethren who in 1855 helped to revive the waning fortunes of the Westminster and Keystone Lodge ,

No . 10 , one of the oldest warranted lodges on the roll of Grand Lodge 'ind . br making- it the London home of Oxford hivthivn very soon raied it to one of the strongest and most influential , as it had previously been and still is one of our most , respected lodges . he is Prov . Prior of Hampshire , and a Grand Cross of the Order . He is also a member and Past M . W . S . of the Adoniram Chapter ,. No . 101 , of Hose Croix . Lastly , he is a supporter of all our Institutions , one of the Trustees of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , and has presided with great success as Chairman for both the Hoys ' and Girls' Schools , ami the Koyal . ' 157 , in 18 ( 51 , and subsequently joined ( he Westminster and Keystone Lodge , No . 10 , of which , in 18 ( 57 , he was installed W . M . In fhe meantime , he was , in 18 ( 53 , accepted as a joining member of the Watford Lodge , No . 404 , and in l , S' ( 57 was appointed Prov . , 1 . 1872 he joined tho Berkhanipsfead Lodge , No . 504 , aud the year following , on the resignation of Bro . William Stuart as Prov . Grand Master of Hertfordshire , was chosen his successor . On the 12 th July of Ihe same year , as P . P . G . W . and P . M .. of the Watford Lodge , he laid the foundation-stones of the Public' Library and new Masonic

Hall at Watfoid . On the 22 nd April , 1874 , Bro . Halsey , who about the same time was elected . ALP . Cor Hertfordshire , was installed in oflice as Prov . Grand Mustovun the Shire Hall , Hertford , in the presence of one of the largest gatherings of the Craft ever known in the county . The year following he was installed G . Superintendent

on the revival of the Prov . Grand Chapter of Hertfordshire , he having been exalted in Hie Watford Chapter , No . 404 , on the 28 th September , 1863 , and installed in the chair of First , Principal iu 187 . 1 . lb ; was advanced ( o the Mark Degree in Carnarvon Lodge , No . 7 , in 18 ( 57 , and appointed J . G . W . of Grand Lodge in 1878 . The

following year he figured as the principal founder of the Watford Mark Lodge , No . 211 , and was installed as the first occupant of its chair of A . Master of Jersey , has presided over Crnft nnd Royal Arch Masonry in the Channel Islands for a number of years , having been appointed Prov . G . Master some , four years after he had filled fhe chair of W . M . in the St . Aubin ' s Lodge , No . 958 . Jersey , of which he was one of the

founders , and G . Superintendent in 1871 . He is also a member and Past M . W . S . of the Carteret Chapler of Rose Croix , No . 10 ft , Jersey , and has taken the 32 in the Ancient and Accepted Rite .
