Master of Bristol , has been a member of our Society for upwards of half a century , and has had the supremo satisfaction of attaining to positions of eminence in all the various branches of Masonry with which he has been associated . Thus in Craft Masonry he was appointed a S . G . Deacon of

England in 18 ( 19 , when the late Karl of Zetland was M . W . G . Master , while , afler serving for man } years as Dep . Prov . G . Master of Bristol , he was , on the resignation of Bro . the Earl of Limerick , appointed by his Royal Highness the Grand Master his lordship ' s successor as Prov . G . Master . In Royal Arch Masonry he was made

These are the credentials of our distinguished brother , . and we venture to say there are few Masons who can point to such an array as this . Yet the . record , briefly as wc have sketched it , would not be

complete it we did not add that he is a liberal supporter , both by reason of the contributions he has made and the Stewardships he has served , to our Central Charities ; while under his auspices the Bristol

Provincial Charitable Institution , which has been established only during the last few years , is making considerable progress , and will shortl y bo in a position to enlarge the benefits it has been able to confer .

R . W . Bro . Col . ROIIUIIT Towxt . icv CAI . DWEM ,, Prov . G . Master and G . Superintendent of Cambridgeshire , was initiated in tho Isaac Newton University Lodge , No . 859 , Cambridge , on the 30 th May , 1869 , and having made rapid progress through the minor oiliccs , was installed as W . Master in . 1872 , the honour being repeated in the

year 18 / 7 . Having subsequently been appointed Prov . S . G . W ., he was , on the resignation of Bro . the Earl of Hardwickc , Prov . G . M ., selected by his Royal Highness the M . W . Grand Master to be his lordship ' s successor , and dul y installed in oflice . He was exalted in the Euclid Chapter , No . S 59 , and after successively occupying the

chairs of J . and H ,, was installed in that of First Principal Z . in 1875 . On the death of Com ]) . J . Neal York , G . Supt ., Comp . Caldwell was chosen to lill the oflice , thereby rendered vacant , and was formally installed in 1886 . In 1870 Col . Caldwell visited Oxford for the purpose of being advanced to the Mark Degree , and returning to

Cambridge became a founder , and ultimately W . M . of the Isaac Newton University Lodge , No . 112 , and and in 1884 was honoured with the appointment of S . G . Deacon of the Mark Grand Lodge . He was installed a Knight Templar in tho Tailored Preceptory , No . 102 , in 1871 , and became its E . P . in 1 S 77 . In 1882 he was appointed Prov .

G . Marshal of Mast Anglia , and in 1 S 79 Grand A . D . C . in Great Priory . He was perfected Rose Croix in tiie Metropolitan Chap ! or No . 1 in 1871 , became one of the founders , and afterwards M . W . S . of the University Chapter , and also assisted iu founding the Cantabrigia Chapter . ' In 1879 he took the 30 ' , and if we slate further that he

is a life Governor of the R . M . Institution for Girls and President of the Cambridgeshire Masonic Charity Association , in which he takes a great interest , we shall lind that this distinguished brother has been at ( he pains of rendering the circle of his Masonic duties as as complete as possible .

Right Hon . the Karl of MOUNT Ew ; cu . \] iii' was initiated in ( ho lifetime of his father , when he was known by the courtesy title of Viscount Vallolort , and is returned in the Devon Masonic Register as the Senior Past Master of the Lodge of Sincerity , No . 189 , East Stouehousc , having occupied the chair as its W . M . in

1858 . He was also W . Master of Meridian Lod ge , No . S 93 , Millbrook , in 1876 , and when the Cornish Lodge , No . 2369 , was formed in 1890 as a London home for Cornish brethren , his lordship was pleased to accept the post of acting Past Master . He was exalfed in the Royal Corniibian Chapter , No . 331 , Truro , aud occupied the chair of
