The ballots for two candidates were deferred on account of the absence of the proposer and seconder , which fact provoked
a very long discussion on the question of proposing persons tor initiation in Freemasonry . The candidates were unknown to any of the members present , and however estimable or otherwise they might have been , nothing could be done towards their acceptance or rejection . One brother was accepted as a joining member . Two members were
passed . A circular was read from a number of Masons in Ireland soliciting aid for the widow of a deceased brother , but as the appeal was not authenticated in anyway the consideration of it was deferred to thc next meeting to enable the VV . M . to make enquiries respecting it . Several propositions were made , and the lodge was closed . A slight repast followed .

SYDNEY . —Robert Burns Lodge ( No . S 17 ) . — - The regular meeting of the above lodge was held on the 14 th of March , the W . M . in the chair . The minutes of the previous meeting and also those of an emergent meeting held on the Sth March were read and confirmed .
