"—This most useful and handy Annual is always one of the first published , one of the most accurate and complete as to details , and ably arranged . The Editors , as before , are Bros . Hmvard H . Room , and William H . Lee , until very recently the esteemed Prov . G . Sec . and Prov . G . Scribe E ., re ** Dectively , of the Province . Bro . Room ' s resignation especially will prove a big loss to Middles : * , as he has so long and so well looked after the interests of that Provinc :, an ! it is far fro-n an easy Us' * : to find a suitable brother to follow in his footsteps . There are now 42 tad-re ? in Middlesex , the
returns for the year 1 S 97 being in excess of all previou ; ly recorded , as they exhibit a total of 1457 members , or an average of some 35 to each lodge , which is much lower , however , than the Provinces generally . The senior lodge is No . 382 , of A . D . 1 S 25 , all the others having been started within the last 50 years , four within the present decade . There are 14 Royal Arch chapters , returning a total of 274 members , and the Mark number 12 , so there is no tack of activity in the Province . There is a variety of information , besides , of considerable interest and utility , which renders the annual generally acceptable , and a welcome friend in the Province .

Bro , Major VVa'ls , with a trifling interregnum , has been since April , i 860 , an efficient member in several regiments of the Volunteer Service , and has figured as a successful shot at many rifle meetings . He has also found time to engage in literary pursuits . He is the author of divers novelettes and poems that have
received favourable press notices , and for many years has contributed letters , icviews , short articles , & c , upon subjects of a Masonic , military , ceramic , and antiquarian interest to various journals and magazines in London and the f rovinces . The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , the ballot was taken on behalf of Bros . J . M . Huish , P . M . 1 C 42 , and II . Foskett , P . M . 1642 , and lt being unanimous , they were ably exalted to the Degree of the Royal Arch . Comp . Ellborn , P . Z ., was elected as a non-dining member . Communications apologising for non-attendance were received from Comps . N . Moss , I . P . Z . ; Eislemann , P . Z . ; and others . Thc chapter was then closed . Junior General . Received the Degrees of St . Laurence , Knight of Constantinople , Knight of the Red Cross of Babylon , and High Priest in the Metropolitan Council ( T . I . ) in 1879 , VV . M . in 1887 , and Secretary since 1891 . Was appointed Assistant Director of Ceremonies in Grand Council in 1 S 87 . Was admitted by the Supreme Magus , the late Dr . Woodman , to the grade of Zelator in the Metropolitan College of the Rosicrucian Society in 1 S 79 . Elected Deputy Master of the Temple in 18 S 7 . In 1888 the Supreme Magus conferred upon him the Degree
of Theoricus . lie was also elected Master of the Temple in that year , and had the rank of Magister Honoris Causa S given to him . In 1892 he received the highest grad ; in the Order , viz , Magus Honoris Causa 9 ° ; was a founder of the Alfred Meadows , now the Premier Conclave of the Degree of Secret Monitor in 1887 , and is its Supreme Ruler . In 1890 was unanimously elected and served the office of Grand Steward , and in i £ gi the Grand Supreme Ruler appointed him a Past Grand Standard Bearer . The subject of this notice , we bjlieve , is
still on the active list of all the lodges , chapters , & c , above enumerated . Bro , Major VVa'ls , with a trifling interregnum , has been since April , i 860 , an efficient member in several regiments of the Volunteer Service , and has figured as a successful shot at many rifle meetings . He has also found time to engage in literary pursuits . He is the author of divers novelettes and poems that have
received favourable press notices , and for many years has contributed letters , icviews , short articles , & c , upon subjects of a Masonic , military , ceramic , and antiquarian interest to various journals and magazines in London and the f rovinces . He was elected a member of the Grand Stewards' Lodge . We may add that Bro . Major Wall . - * - , who possesses a voice of singular resonance , is a ready speaker , sings a capital song , and is an elocutionist of no mean powers .

The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , the ballot was taken on behalf of Bros . J . M . Huish , P . M . 1 C 42 , and II . Foskett , P . M . 1642 , and lt being unanimous , they were ably exalted to the Degree of the Royal Arch . Comp . Ellborn , P . Z ., was elected as a non-dining member . Communications apologising for non-attendance were received from Comps . N . Moss , I . P . Z . ; Eislemann , P . Z . ; and others . Thc chapter was then closed .
