Manningham saw the evil , and determined to appl y a remedy . He consulted with Dr . Anderson on the subject , and together they
drew up a prayer for that particular ceremony , which was submitted to the Grand Lodge for its sanction ; and that being obtained , Dr . Manningham introduced it in person to the metropolitan Lodges , by whom it was gratefull y received . From thence it spread into the provinces , and was generally adopted throughout the kingdom .
