SUSSEX MEMORIAL .
At a Pi'jsr . K . ' MKETINO , held on Saturday , July 1 st , at WILLIS ' ROO . IIS , King-street , St . James ' s , TIIE MOST NOBLE THE MARQUIS OF NORTHAMPTON IN THE CHAIR , The following Resolutions were unanimously passed : —
Moved by His Grace the Duke of Sutherland , seconded by the Marquis of Breadaibane" 1 —That his late Royal Highness the Duke of Sussex , by his patronage of literature and science , by his zealous and active support of every object of benevolence , by his anxious desire to promote in every respect the happiness of his fellow-creatures , by his candour and sincerity in public , and his kind condescension in private life , has well merited the general sorrow expressed at his lamented decease . "
Moved by the Earl of Rosebery , seconded by the Lord Bishop of Durham" 2 . —That as a record of these sentiments , and a tribute of respect to the memory of his late Royal Highness , a Memorial be erected by public subscription . " Moved by the Earl of Arundel , seconded by Lord Carbery" 3 . —That a subscription to carry the above resolution into effect be immediately opened , and an opportunity thereby afforded to all persofis of testifying their grateful acknowledgments of the high and amiable qualities by which his late Royal Hi ghness was so pre-eminently distinguished . "
