CEYLON , March 5 . —Laying the Comer-stone ofthe Scotch Church . — On Friday , the elite of Colombo' were on the tip toe of hustle , owing to the preparations for lay ing the Corner-stone of the Scotch Presbyterian Kirk in the Fort , by his Excellency the Governor . At half past four o ' clock , P . M ., the St . John ' s Lodge of Colombo , attended "by others of the fraternity , in the full dress of their Order , preceded by the splendid band of the gallant 95 th Regiment , playing the grand Masonic
march , moved in procession from the quarters of Captain Gregory , Royal Engineers , to the Queen ' s house . Upon the arrival of the cortege , they were ushered by Captain Lillie ancl Ensign Venour ( aidesde-camp to the Governor ) into the presence of his Excellency , who was seated in the centre of la grande salle , surrounded by a brilliant assemblage of ladies ancl gentlemen , who hacl " received special invitations from the Building Committee to assemble at the Queen s house , with
the concurrence of his Excellency . " The Brethren , after a little delay , took their seats in front of his Excellency , and the Bible , Square , Compass , & c , having been laid hefore the AVorship ful Master , Captain Gregory , who hacl been deputed
