He was proud to greet thom ; he regretted thoy had seen no work , as tho Joppa Chapter prided itself on its working , but on a future occasion he hoped they would

havo an opportunity of seeing how tho working of K . A . Masonry was carried out iu this Chapter . After the several Visitors had acknowledged tho compliment , Comp . H . M . Levy P . St . Michael's Lodge of Instruction , No . 211 . —A meeting waa held on Thursday , at the Georgo , Australian avenue , Barbican . Present :-Bros . W . W . Morgan jun . W . M ., Withers S . rehearsed . ' Bro . Jaques was elected a member , and Bro . Withers appointed to preside at tho next meeting , on which occasion tho Officers of the Mother Lodgo will assume their respective collars . A vote of thanks was proposed and carried to Bro , Morgan for tho presentation of a copy of tho Constitutions , & a .

High Cross Lodge , JVo . 754 . — Tho regular meeting of thia Lodgo was held at the Seven Sisters , Tottenham , on "Wednesday 28 th inst . Lodge was duly opened by Bro . H . Stephens W . M ., assisted by P . M . ' s G . Jones , C . F . Barham , AV * . Dance , J , Linzell , and tho following Officers : —G . Burford S . W ., J . Fan-in J . W ., T . Cunningham P . M . Secretary , H . V . Clements S . D ,, J . II . Thompson J . D ., J .

Garrod D . C . as LG ., J . Verry Tyler . Lodge was advanced to tho third degree , and Bro . Fidler was duly raised by the W . M ., who gave tho whole of the ceremony in a most perfect style . On tho resumption of tho Lodge to tho first degree , it was announced that since the last meeting a brother well known to most of the members hud died . It was proposed that tho sum of three guineas bo voted

from tho funds of tho Lodgo on behalf of the widow and family , who are in great distress , and aro nt present seriously afllicted , several members of tho family being laid up with a most severe illness . This was ably supported by various members , ancl unanimously carried . This voto from tho Lodgo formed but tho nucleus of a fund , which was afterwards supplemented by donations

from several members , tho result being that upwards of ten guineas was collected for tho relief of tho family . It was decided by the voto of tho Lodge that the usual summer banquet be held , and it therefore remained for tho Lodgo to appoint the stewards to carry out the necessary arrangements . Tho W . M ., senior officers and several of tho members were named , and we feel sure that their efforts will be

devoted to ensure a most successful gathering . Lodgo was now closed , ancl tho brethren repaired to supper , after which the usual toasts wero g iven and heartily acknowledged . In responding to the toast of tho W . M ., proposed by Bro . Dance , Bro . Stephens thanked the members for the heartiness with which he was received on all occasions by tho brethren of the Lodgo . Tho health of tho Visitors was given from tho

chair , tho VV . M . stating that they were at all times pleased to welcome guests at fcheir meetings . He considered it was by visiting thafc thoy we reonablecl to learn whether they wero right or wrong . For himself , ifc was to his frequent visits to other Lodges he was indebted for tho knowledge he had obtained of Freemasonry . Bro . Terry responded . Tho next toasfc was thafc of the P . M . ' s , who were always ready ,

tho Worshipful Master said , to support and aid him in tho working of the Lodge . The toasfc having been acknowledged , tho W . M . now said ho hud one of the most pleasurable duties to perform that it was possible conld fall to the lot of a Master . They had that evening a painful example of what tho word Charity really meant . A few weeks since thoy had amongst them a Brother apparently in as

good health and position as any of them , but ifc had pleased the G . A . O . T . LT . to call him from among them , and thoy had heard of tho position in which tho widow and family were now placed—unfortunately it was one of great distress . This case showed that it was the dnty of every Brother to do his utmost for tho good of tho Order whilo ho was able , as it was impossible to say who might bo

the next who would be laid on a bed of sickness , perhaps of death . Deathaud distress were serious subjects at all times , but to thoso who lid their duty , trials that could lie faced with confidence . They had among their number so many who worked for the good of the Chan-¦ ios of the Order that it was almost invidious to select any parti .

• ular Brother to respond , but ho considered that Bro . * . Garrod and 1 'hompson , by their official position iu connection with tho Associ . -cion working iu their district , were perhaps tho best to -. elect t . *> respond to tho toasfc of the Charities of the Order . Of course , he should add to theso the name of Bro . Terry , whoso

Garrod D . C . as LG ., J .
