65—was a Life Governor ; he also qualified as a Life Subscriber of the Boys' School . The lad now appeals for the first time . No . 54 , Frederick Bland , is one of five children now dependent on their mother . His' father was made a

dependent children . The former , Arthur Thomas Browne , has a sister in the Girls' School . Both his parents are living ; the father , however , who was initiated in the United Pilgrims' Lodge , No . 507 , and became its

Inner Guard , being insane . No . 64 , Edward Dunthorne Hodgkinson , also has both parents living . His father was initiated in the Rose of Denmark Lodge , No . 975 , in 1876 , and since that time has subscribed to each of the three Institutions . No . 8 , Frances Pater Turner , is an only child dependent on his mother , who was left a widow in

1881 . The father was initiated two years before his death , in the City of London Lodge , No . 901 . The

son has already stood two elections , and brings forward 850 votes therefrom . No . 24 , Arthur Howard Kemp , is the son of a brother initiated in the

Landport Lodge , No . 1776 , Hampshire and Isle of Wight , who subsequently joined the Victoria Park Lodge , No . 1816 ,

London . The lad is one of six children now dependent on the widow , and comes forward , for the second time , with 309 votes recorded on his behalf . The other case in which a London Lodge is interested is No . 14 , George Louis

Granville Gallot , who is the son of an Irish Mason who has been a member of five Lodges under the English Constitution , they being situate in South Wales ( Western Division ) , Brazil , Ceylon , Lahore and London respectively .

Both parents are yet living , and there are five children dependent on them . The lad now before the subscribers to the Boys' School was a candidate at the last election , when 1450 votes were recorded on his behalf , a fact

which augurs well for his ultimate success . Having thus brought our remarks in regard to the London cases to a conclusion , we turn to the Provinces , nearly all of which

spoken of—No . 35 , where neither parent is living . These are No . 36 , Kenneth Kendall , St . James Lodge , No . 448 ; No . 50 , William Albert Foulds , Scientific Lodge , No . 439 ; and No . 57 , William Hubert Pinder , Excelsior Lodge , No . 1042 . The first named was a candidate at the last

election , and then secured one vote . His father was Senior Deacon of his Lodge , and during his lifetime supported the Benevolent Institution . There are three children now dependent on the widow . Foulds and Pinder are both first

application cases , and both are members of families where three children are dependent on a widowed mother . In each case the father was Senior Warden of his Lodge , and subscribed until death .

Somerset has three cases , in one of them the responsibility being shared with Devonshire . This is No . 20 , Archibald Wallace Campbell , son of a brother initiated under the Scotch Constitution , who joined St . Keyna Lodge , No . 1833 , and Concord , No . 1135 . In the latter he rose to the dignity of Worshipful Master ; of the former

he was one of the founders , afterwards filling the offices of Senior Deacon and Secretary . There are four of his children dependent on his widow , who secured 31 votes on behalf of her son ' s candidature for the Boys' School at the

last election . No . 26 , Arthur Henry Grimsey , is one of two children left to the care of their mother , the widow of a brother initiated in Prudence and Industry Lodge , No . 1953 . The lad was a candidate in October , and at

that contest 277 votes were polled on his behalf . No . 65 , George Hancock Cox , is a son of a brother initiated in the Lodge of Brotherly Love , No . 329 , in August 1861 . He subscribed thereto for 25 | years , during which period he

passed the chair and for some time filled the office of Treasurer . He was also a P . Z . and P . P . G . Supt . Wks . There are seven of his children now dependent on his widow .

Norfolk has two cases of its own besides the one already mentioned , and shares with Suffolk responsibility in one other . No . 13 , Martin Roddwell Bostock , now makes his third application , with eight votes to his credit .

The father , who is still living , was initiated in the Lodge of Friendship , No . 100 , and subscribed thereto for eleven and a half years . He has five children still dependent on him . No . 34 , Ernest W . Nankivell , is one of eight children left to the care of a widowed mother . The father was

initiated in the Sondes Lodge , No . 996 , and was Worshipful Master thereof at the time of his death . One hundred and seventy-eight votes were polled on the lad ' s behalf in October last .

in the Mechanics' Lodge , No . 245 ; joined Four Cardinal Virtues , No . 979 , Cheshire , and was a founder of St . Thomas ' s Lodge , No . 1914 , Staffordshire , subscribing , in the three , for close on fourteen years .

Kent has two cases of its own , and shares with Jamaica and Herts responsibility in connection with a third . No . 17 , William John Jennings , was a candidate at the last election , and then secured 105 votes . He is the son
