REPORT OP THE BOARD OP GENERAL PURPOSES .

To tho United Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of England . Tho Board havo to report that , acting nnder tho advice of the Grind Superintendent of Works , thoy havo had the olectrio light introduced into the premises of Grand Lodge under his supervision . The installation is being carried out , on very favourable terms , by Messrs . Laing , Wharton and Down , and the Board hope and believe that the new light will not only greatly increase the comfort of the brethren attending Grand Lodgo and using the private Lodge-rooms , but will also materially conduce to tho preservation of the costly gilding and other decorations ofthe building .

The Board submit a statement of the Grand Lodge Accounts , at thc last meeting of the Finance Committee , held on Friday , the 15 tb dr . y of November instant , showing a balance in the Bank of England ( Western Branch ) of £ 3973 7 s 5 d , and in tho hands of the Grand Secretary for petty cash £ 100 , and for servants' wages £ 100 , and balance of annual allowance for library £ 26 7 s lid . THE consecration of a new Lodge at Horwich , No . 2324 , Province of West Lancashire , took place ab the Public Hall , Horwich , on Wednesday , 13 th inst ., by Bro . W . Goodaore P . G . S . B . England Prov . Grand Secretary . There was a large assemblage of brethren from surrounding towns present . The Consecrating Officer was assisted by Bro . J . D . Murray Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies ; the

Senior Warden ' s chair was taken by Bro . Lambert , and the Junior Warden's chair by Bro . Slyman , whilst Bros . Dr . G . H . Whitaker and A . H . Crump acted as Organists . At the close of the consecration , Bro . Goodacre duly installed Bro . J . Rogers P . M . of the Strangeways Lodge as first W . M ., Bro . Dr . G . H . Whitaker as first S . W ., and Bro . H ,

R . Thornton as first J . W ., in accordance with the terms of the warrant which had been read by Bro . Betley . Greene , gave an eloquent address to the Lodge , and the prayers and porbions of Scripture during the consecration of the Lodge wero most impressively read by the Rev . T . B . Nichols . The musical portion of the ceremonial was

rendered by Bros . D . Whitehead , J . Nutton , J . Walker , and J . Leatham of Durham Cathedral Choir , Bro . Seaton , of Hexham Abbey Church , P . G . O ., presiding at the organ , tho brethren of the Lodge joining in the choruses in an effective manner . The dedication and constitution of the new Lodge took place in due form , theso

important functions being fulfilled most ably by the Provincial Grand Master Sir M . W . Ridley , Bart ., assisted in an able manner by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master Bro . R . H . Holmes . The new Lodge was declared duly constituted by the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies Bro . Adam Robertson . The whole ceremony ,
