SUMMER OUTING OF THE CONFIDENCE LODGE , NO 193 .

ON Friday , 22 nd inst ., Brethren of this popular Lodge accompanied by . wife , sweetheart , and country cousins—all in the best of spirits , in view of being happy themselves and making others the same —took part in the Summer Outing . All hoped for a pleasant day ,

and in this wish many absent Brethren joined , though they were unable to be present through pressure of business and other causes , the highly esteemed Preceptor of the instruction Lodge Bro . George Spice I . x . M . of the Mother Lodge , being one who was unavoidabl y prevented from attending .

The programme of the day consisted of an up river trip to Hampton Court , by the " Queen Elizabeth , ' under command of Capt . G . Brooks , who has been in charge of the steamer since she was built , in 18 95 . Start was made from London Bridge . pier at 10

o ' clock punctually , and members and their friends were taken up at various piers . While gliding peacefully through London ' s great waterway sandwiches , Champagne , and other light refreshment was served , and at 12 o ' clock the luncheon bell was sounded , which , after the bracing influences of the river air ; was like Mendelssohn ' s sweet
