Reports Of Meetings.

The Lodge being opened was advanced to the second degree , when Bro . B . Barton Secretary said he would be pleased to act as candidate . Having answered the questions he was entrusted , the Lodge was opened in the third degree , when the Secretary , with the assistance of the Brethren , worked the first section of the lecture . The W . M . then rehearsed the ceremony of raising . The Lodge was closed down in the three degrees .

Bro . R . Bell , of the Whittington Lodge , was elected a member , which compliment was acknowledged in a few well chosen words . Bro . Gush proposed , with the approval of the S . W ., that Bro . Powell Treasurer should take the chair the first Wednesday in the new century .

Bro . Powell said that before that was agreed to , he would propose that Bro . Gusli Preceptor should come to the front on the occasion , because when he was Preceptor of the Lodge a like honour was done him . He hoped the Brethren would support him . Bro . Ibbertson S . W . had much pleasure in seconding the latter proposition and it was unanimously agreed that Bro . Gush should officiate the first Wednesday in the new year .

Bro . Powell proposed that a notification of the fact should be sent to each member of the Lodge , which was agreed to . We hope that on this special occasion an exceptionally good attendance will result . The working of the Preceptor is well known and the members and visitors may rest assured they will be well repaid for attending to support him at the first meeting of the twentieth century .

Ranolagh Lodge , No . 834 . THIS Lodge < of Instruction met at its usual quarters , the Six Bells Hotel , Hammersmith , W ., on Friday , 21 st inst ., and the attendance was well up to the mark . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , and after being called off and on Lodge was opened in the second degree , and the first section was worked by the Brethren , under the Preceptor's direction . On being resumed to the first degree the choice of the Brethren fell on Bro . Robert Reid , who kindly consented to act as W . M . at the last jmeeting in the century , on the 28 th .

City of London Lodge , No . 901 . A GOOD meeting was held on Tuesday , iSth inst ., at the King ' s Arms , Shoreditch . Those present included Bros . W . R . Haylock W . M ., J . Amond S . W ., W . Reeves J . W ., A . Purkiss J .. M . Treas . acting Preceptor , G . Smith S . D ., Knight J . D ., Jeffries I . G ., W . Grant , J . Wynman , Witham , etc .

The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Purkiss being the candidate . The Lodge was opened in the second degree , Bro . Witham was examined and entrusted . The Lodge was opened in the third degree , and the ceremony of -raising was rehearsed . Bro . Amond was elected to preside at the next meeting .

New Cross Lodge , No . 1559 . KNOWING this Lodge has the reputation of being one of the most perfect working Lodge in the metropolis we paid it a visit on Tuesday , iSth inst ., and were agreeably pleased to see the excellent accommodation provided for the meeting , Brother Lewis Lake , the popular proprietor of the Kemble's HeadLong

, Acre , appearing to do everything in his power for the comfort of the Brethren . On the occasion of our visit Bro . Lewis Lake was in the chair , supported by Bros . G . Faaz Secretary S . W ., J . Sutcliffe J . W .. J . D . Graham P . M ., & c . Preceptor , A . J . Swash P . M . S . D ., W . Knill J . D ., W . Grove I . G ., Hancock , Wynman . and others .

The Lodge being opened , was advanced to the second degree , and then called off . On resuming , the W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of raising , for which Bro . Hancock acted as candidate . In view of the Christmas and New Year holidays the Lodge was adjourned until Tuesday , 8 th January , Bro . Faaz Secretary being elected to act as W . M . at the first meeting of the new year .

Bro . Faaz reminded the Brethren that the annual supper was arranged for Tuesday , 15 th January , and urged those who desired to attend to give timely notice , as supper would only be provided for those who sent in their names . The Preceptor said he hoped the W . M .-elect of the Mother Lodge would be able to preside on the occasion .

The W . M ., before closing the Lodge , said he could not let the opportunity pass without wishing the Brethren a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ; and he hoped the Brethren would join him in the loving cup . The Brethren having given expression to their true fellowshi p separated a little later than usual .

Elliott taking the part of candidate . Bro . Woodrow said it was not the first time Bro . Lacy had occupied the chair in their Lodge , but on the previous occasion he merely opened . At that meeting he had not alone opened the

Lodge in the three degrees , but had gone through the ceremony of initiation with very little assistance . He therefore proposed that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded him , congratulating him on the way in which he had discharged the duties of the chair that day . Brother Simeons had very much pleasure in seconding the vote , which was carried , and suitably acknowledged by Bro . Lacy .

Bro . Culverhouse was selected to preside on Monday next , 31 st inst ., and it being the last day of the year , and his ability as a worker being well known , it is expected there will be a specially good attendance to support him . The Lodge . being closed the true fellowship which exists among the members was evinced by the loving cup being passed round , the Brethren pledging each other and wishing all the compliments of the season .

ON the loth inst ., Bro . G . Coop P . M . 141 occupied the chair , and had the support of Bros . C . Lacy S . W ., A . Grille J . W ., C . Woodrow P . M . Prec , W . H . G . Rudderforth P . M . Elliott was then examined and entrusted , the Lodge advanced , and the ceremony of raising gone through . A Brother in distress was awarded the sum of one guinea out of the Benevolent Fund . It was proposed by Bro . Rudderforth

and unanimously agreed to that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to Bro . Coop , for the admirable manner in which he had officiated as W . M ., for the first time in the Lodge . This was unanimously aereed to and acknowledged bv Bro . Coop , to whom we desire to add our word of praise , for the way in which he discharged the duties of the chair on the occasion .
