********** Chlswick Lodge , No . 2012 . IN no portion of the suburbs of London more than Hammersmith and the surrounding district is more attention given to section working , and that is possibly the reason the Brethren of
that part of the metropolis are as a rule efficient when they are called upon to act as Worshi pful Master ia their own Lodge . The local system of dividing the Fifteen Sections into two evenings work is also to be commended , as when the whole are to be completed on the same evening it is the means of prolonging the meeting to an inordinate length ,

On Saturdays , nth and 18 th ult ., the large Assembly Room at the Windsor Castle Hotel was well filled , and punctually at 7 . 30 p . m . the gavel was sounded by Bro . W . Hillier P . M . as W . M ., he being supported by Bros . J . Knight P . M . S . W ., R . Reid P . M .

The number of Past Masters and present Masters of Lodges held in the vicinity who were present was very large , and about three times that of lay Brethren .
The questions , put by Bro . Hillier , were answered by the section workers with admirable promptitude , and the services of that veteran "Sectionist" Bro . J . Knight were scarcely ever called into action as prompter .
A vote of thanks was proposed and carried to those Brethren who had come from long distances to assist , and , on separating , wishes were expressed by some who had been invited that they would not be forgotten on the next occasion of the Fifteen Sections being worked at the Chiswick Lodge of Instruction .
Hammersmith Lodge , No . 2090 . THE spacious Wycombe Hall , situate in Hammersmith Road , W ., was well patronised on Wednesday , 19 th inst . In response to an invitation eighteen members of the Hugh Owen Lodge of Instruction put in an appearance . This , with thirty members of the Hammersmith Lodge of Instruction , made a goodly array .

After declaring the Lodge " on Bro . Tull vacated the chair in favour of Bro . J . B . Schroder , who examined and entrusted Bro . Ford . Lodge was opened in the second degree , and the passing ceremony was rehearsed . The Lodge being resumed to the first degree Bros . R . H . Nicholls , Walter Lee , Ridgway , and E . Frith were unanimously elected members . These four Brethren suitably replied , when the W . M . announced the fact to them .
It was proposed by Bro . Hillier , and seconded by Brother Warren , that the Brethren of the Hugh Owen Lodge of Instruction be thanked for attending , and great stress was laid on the excellent manner in which the ritual had been rehearsed . During our
extended experience we never heard the ceremonies given m better style . The Lodge being closed the visiting Brethren left to catch their various conveyances , and all expressed the great pleasure they had experienced at the manner in which they had been received .
THE Great Northern Railway Company inform us that in addition to important alterations already announced in connection with their summer trains , the sendee to Yorkshire will from 1 st July be considerably improved . The luncheon and dining car expresses now leaving London ( Kings Cross ) for Leeds at 9 . 45 a . m . and
5 . 45 p . m . will be accelerated to reach Leeds at 1 . 24 p . m . and 9 . 35 p . m . respectively , whilst the 1 . 30 p . m . from London ( King ' s Cross ) now due to arrive at 5 . 22 p . m . will reach there at 5 . 7 p . m . A new express will be timed to leave Leeds ( Central ) at 2 . 0 p . m ., calling at 'Wakefield ( Westgate ) and Grantham , and reaching London ( King ' s Cross ) at 5 . 35 p . m .
Hw m Whatever may have been the case in regard to the past it seems certain that the future generation of Freemasons will not lack adequate representation in the newspaper and magazine world , if all the ventures recently launched or contemplated are able to maintain an existence . We read
in the " Manchester Courier " that " emulating the example set by Liverpool , Bro . William Townsend , of Moss Side , intends , with the beginning of July , to publish 'The Masonic World : a Journal chiefly devoted to the interests of Freemasonry in the Provinces of East Lancashire and Cheshire . ' The new journal will endeavour to record the charitable
and social side of Freemasonry , and . will from time to time contain portraits of the leading lights in the Craft . This is the fifth new venture that has come under our notice the last few months , and seems to imply that the Masonic field is regarded as a very rich one for the purposes of journalism . We hope the different promoters may not be disappointed in their anticipations .
