The Chapter was opened , and the minntes of last meeting read and confirmed ; tho ballot was taken for two brethren to be exalted , and it proved successful in each case . No other business offering the Chapter was closed , and the Companions adjourned to refreshment . Comp . J . Cook P . S . 481 was present as a visitor .

Derby Lodge , No . 724 . —The monthly meeting of this Lodge took place on Wednesday , the 2 G ' th Juno , at tho Masouic Temple , Hope-street , Liverpool . Present—Bros . Asher Hart AV . M ., R . It was explained , ia consequence of tho illness of tlio candidate , the third degree would not be given . There was a notice of motion by Bro . Jacobs to the effect that ho should move for the alteration of the date for the ceremony of Installation to June , and that Julv and August bo

months of vacation in each year . No other business coming before tlio Lodge , ihe brethren were invited to refreshment by tho hospitable and amiable AV . M . The brethren enjoyed a very generous repast , and the AV . M . rose to propose tho toast of tho Queen , with A few well-chosen remarks ; tho toast was properly honoured , all the brethreu sieging tho National Anthem . The next toast of

H . ll . U . tho Prince of AVales , aud our Masonic Rulers Supreme and Subordinate , was submitted from the chair , and heartily drunk ; Oro . M . Hart leading iu tho Anthem God Bless the Princo of Wales , which was very well sung . The W . M . called npon Bro . Gordon font song ; he cheerfully responded . W . Bro . Hart then with tho kindest expressions possible gavo tho toast of tho Visitors . He said it

afforded him great pleasure in seeing Bros . Davies and Henochsberg with them that evening . Ho regretted that thero had not been work before the Lodge , as ho wns sure Bro . Davies , who had tho interests of tho Craft so ninch at heart , always visited a Lodgo for tho purpose of seeing them work . Ho ( the W . M . ) regretted to learn that Bro . Davies would not , during his stay in Liverpool , bo ablo

to pay them another visit . However , as he had , on the last meeting previous to this , seen tho third given , he has a knowledge how we got along . Wo shall always bo glad to seo Bro . Davies , and accord , him a warm reception . We aro also pleased to see Bro . Honochsborg here this evening . You know tho feelings I have towards him , and ho must bo fully aware that he is heartily welcome to the Derby

Lodge . Our Lodgo at all times extends a cordial greeting to all who favour us with a visit , and I regret that there are not more visitors round the festive board on this occasion . To thoso who aro here we give tho toast in the heartiest manner . Bro . Davies replied ; for tho honour conferred , and was followed by Bro . Henochsberg , Avho returned thanks in a very able manner . The Derby Lodge is ono of those happy , harmonious Lodges Avhich it is a pleasure to visit ,

especially so under the able and genial Mastership of Bro . Hart . May it ever continue as harmonious and prosperous as it is to-day . During the evening , Bros . McGanley , Humphreys , Jacobs , and Pendleton discoursed some good music , and Bro . M . Hart gavo a touching recitation , in a manner he feels is suro to please . The last toast brought tho evening ' s pleasures to a close , and the brethren separated , highly edified .

for-Avardod to tho widow of our late Comp . J . B . Foreshaw , on her bereavement , —carried unanimously . It was proposed by Ex . Comp . Cottrell , aud seconded by Ex . Comp . Banning , that tbe sum of fifteen guineas bo devoted from the funds of the Chapter for the purpose of endowing the three Principals of the Chapter as Lifo Governors in the W . L . Edncational Institution , —carried unanimously . Thero

wero throe candidates for Exaltation , but neither put in an appearance , much to the disappointment of all present , especially as the Chapter meets only onco in two months . Tho Chapter was closed in ancient form , and by command of the M . E . Z . the Companions adjourned to refreshment . On tho removal of the cloth , the M . E . Z . gave tho first toast , —tho Qneen , prefacing

it with a few pleasing remarks ; the samo was dnly honoured , tho Comps . singing tho National Anthem . After the toast of H . R . H . tho Princo of Wales was proposed and heartily drunk , the Prov . Graud Snpt ., and the Masonic Rulers Supremo and Subordinate Avas given from the chair , and conplcd therewith the name of Ex-Comp . Banning , who in reply acknowledged the compliment paid him iu having his

name associated with the toast . Ho paid a high tribute of praise to our Masonic Rulers , saying he was prond of them , and stating that no Comp . would regret ever attaining to tho distinction of Avorking with them ; ho trusted that every one deserving of honours would receive them , as reward sweetens labour . Ho thanked them for the kind manner the toast had been proposed and received . Comp .

Ircvittgavo a very impressive recitation , after which Comp . King proposed tho health of the three Principals , which was cordially drunk with musical honours . Ex-Comp . Washington kindly gave a song . Ex-Comp . Shaw in response to tho last toast said , ho wished to be aa brief as possible , but as he shonld bo compelled to reply for the three Principals , becanso of tho unavoidable earl y departure of Comps .

Ballard and Bonlton , he would havo to reply a littlo more at length than ho desired . Ho felt greatly put about that there was no work done that evening . Ho had always attended to his duties , for years , in that Chapter , and could not remember such an occurrence ever before ; he regretted it exceedingly , especially as so many visitors had come for the sole purpose of

seeing tho various officers do thoir part , aud which had gained for the Everton Chapter so exalted a namo . He hoped they would never meet again to part under such unprofitable circumstances . Ho thanked the Comps . for receiving the toast in the kind manner they had . Ho proceeded to put for thoir cordial reception a toast ho always folt so much pleasure in proposing . Tho Everton Chapter owed every

thing- to tho talent and energy of its P . Z . ' s , and he , as well as they , were greatly indebted tor tho continued support given the Chapter by these able Companions , without whose assistance thoy could not suecoed . Ho therefore would ask all to charge thoir glasses , and drink tho very good health of the P . Z . ' s of the Everton Chapter . This was most heartily clone . Comp . Milne gave the next song . Ex-Comp . Cottrell rose to respond to the toast so kindly put from tho chair ,

ind so unanimously received . Ho had the privilege , as tho I . P . Z ., to reply first . Ho said the uniform kindness and gratitude shown by tho Comps ., and tho many special honours conferred upon him by tho Chapter fully compensated for the attention devoted by him to their welfare . He was always ready aud willing to do his utmost , and , with the M . E . Z ., regretted that they had been disappointed in not having at least one candidate for exaltation , that night , but their meet .
