Reports Of Meetings.

_ The W . M .-elect Bro . Rev . J . H . Robson was presented for installation , which ceremony was very ably and impressively performed by the out-going Master . All business being concluded , the Lodge was closed , and the Brethren adjourned to an excellent banquet , after which the usual toasts were given in succession , and heartily honoured .

UNITED SERVICE LODGE , No . 1428 . ON Friday , 13 th inst ., at the Freemasons' Club , Commercial Road , Landport , Bro . Henry Charles Rennison was installed W . M ., the ceremony being ably performed by tho outgoing Master Bro . H . Kenshett . Officers for the ensuing year were appointed and invested .

During tho evening Bro . Kenshett was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel ; Bro . Pither Treasurer was tho recipient of a silver coffee urn and teapot as a token of esteem and respeot ; and Bro . Pearman Organist was presented with a dinner service and lamp . Each reci pient appropriately returned thanks .

On the conclusion of the business the Brethren adjourned to the Lower Albert Hall , where , to the number of close upon 150 . the banquet was served , the visitors including the Deputy Prov . Grand Master Bro . Edgai Goble , several past Prov . Officers , and the Master of the Lodges in Portsmouth and district .

TRUTH LODGE , No . 1458 . THE regular meeting was held at the Mitre Hotel , Cathedral Gates , Manchester , on Saturday , 7 th inst ., Bro . A . B . Taylor W . M ., Lodge being opened at 4 . 45 p . m . After tho reading and confirmation of minutes , Lodge was advanced , and Bro . Alfred Hebden P . M . P . P . G . D . D . C D . C .

assumed the principal chair , ultimately raising Bro . Harry Flint to the sublime degree of M . M ., being assisted by Bros . Geo . T . Lenard P . M . and H . Hellewell J . W ., the former presenting and explaining the working tools and the latter giving the traditional history .

A notice of motion standing m the name of Bro . T . P . Cooper I . P . M . for increasing the amount of subscription was deferred . Before the Lodge was closed it was resolved to hold a ladies' night , this to take place at the next regular meeting , on Saturday , 4 th November . A substantial tea was partaken of , this being followed by the usual social

There was a largo attendance of Brethren from all parts . The new Worshipful Master was Bro . William Jaffrey , and the retiring W . M . Bro . A . J . Dawes .

URMSTON LODGE , No . 1730 . THE regular meeting was held at the Victoria Hotel , Urmston , on Monday , 9 th instant , Bro . James Shaw Whitley W . M . After the reading and confirmation of minutes , Lodge was advanced to the third degree , and the W . M . supplied a rare treat to the Brethren by an admirable rendering of the second section of the traditional history .

After the reading and confirmation of minutes , Bro . Harry Steel was raised to the sublime degree of M . M . by the W . M ., assisted by Bro . Bernhard

Steel I . P . M .. who delivered the charge to the candidate . This remarkable circumstance of three Brothers , related to each other by ties of consanquinity as well as by those Masonic , all taking part in one function , was duly recognised , the ceremony being a musical one , in which several distinguished members of other Lodges gave their services .

The social board followed , Loyal and Masonic toasts being pleasantly varied by songs & c , rendered by Bros . J . H . Phillips Sec , William Harris P . M . 1993 P . P . G . A . D . C , W . T . Michael's Rise , Bournemouth , on Monday evening , 16 th inst ., in the presence of a large attendance of Installed Masters and Brethren ofthe Lodge , and of members of other Lodges in Bournemouth and the district . Tha ceremony was ably performed by Bro . H . Youngman , Bro . Pearce presenting the working tools .

Before the proceedings in Lodge closed , a handsome Past Master ' s jewel was presented to the retiring W . M ., who was warmly thanked for his services during his year of office .

The duties of the day being ended , the Brethren adjourned to the Grand Hotel , where a recherche banquet was served by Host Preston . DUKE OF YORK LODGE , No . 2449 . THB regular meeting was held at the Albion Hotel , Manchester , on Thursday , 12 th inst ., Bro . A . G . Bryce W . M . Successful ballots were taken for Bro . William Daniel Holbrook , of

Integrity Lodge , No . 163 , who was desirous of becoming a joining member , and for Mr . William Brantingham , Government Railway , Lagos , West Coast of Africa , who , however , did not attend for the ceremony . A very pleasant social evening followed .

COLNE LODGE , No . 2477 . ON Tuesday , 12 th inst ., the annual festivul was held in the Old Board Schools , Wyvenhoe , when Bro . T . W . Harlow was installed as W . M . for the ensuing year , the ceremony being impressively performed by Bro .

Claude E . Egerton-Green P . P . S . G . W . first Worshipful Master of the Lodge , At the close of tbe ceremony a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Bro . Egerton-Green . and he was unanimously re-elected to represent the Lodge on the Essex Provincial Charity Committee .

A Past Master's jewel was presented to the retiring W . M . Bro . Dick Ham , who returned thanks for the compliment paid him . The Brethren afterwards dined together at the Greyhound Hotel .

SMOKING CONCERT .

THE directors of the Freemasons' Club , Commercial Road , Landport , recently decided to arrange for a series of " Orphepnist '' Concerts during the winter , similar entertainments having in the past proved a srurec of much pleasure to members and friends . The first of the new series vvas held on Tuesday night , 3 rd inst ., under the presidency of tho Chairman of Directors , Bro . W . E . Duck , T . C . The concert room presented a comfortable

appearance , fche table being decorated with small palms and other evergreens . A splendid programme was provided and excellently carried out under the superintendence of Bro . Cowan , musical director , who himself opened the proceedings by playing in masterly style an overture on the piano . Vocalists were in strong force and in good form . For the next concert , on the 7 th prox ., ladies will be invited .
