The banquet was served in good style , at the Sportsman Hotel , and the usual Masonic toasts were duly honoured , Bro . R . Davids I . P . M . officiating as M . C . For Grand Lodge Bro . Lloyd Philipps responded in eloquent terms , and , while thanking his Northern brethren for their hearty welcome of him , as an entire stranger from the South , expressed the pleasure he felt in seeing the entente cordiale so happilv

established b « tween the several portions of the Principality , which might bo largely attributable to the benign influence of Freemasonry , whose special function and glory it was to bridge over sectional chasms , soften down social asperities , diminish , if not remove , class prejudices , round off tho sharp corners of religious and political variance , and unite opposing parties by the sacred bond of the mystic tie , on the

holy neutral ground of brotherly love and universal benevolence . In speaking to the toast of D . P . G . M ., Bro . W . B . Hughes very feelinglv acknowledged the warm and cneery greeting accorded to him , and announced , amid much applause , that , while ho had reserved his first visit for No . fiOfi , bo proposed to attend every Lodge , in turn , throughout his Province , and personally observe tho working of them all . At eight o ' clock the visitors departed , and the W . M . left the chair .

Windsor Castle Chapter , No . 771 . —The Installation meeting of this Chapter was held in the Masonic Temple at Windsor , on the 19 th inst , when were present : —The M . E . Companions H . H . Barton , Roberts , Bryetfc , and Visiting Companion W . Johnson . The Chapter having been prepared by tho Principals present , the Companions below the Chairs were admitted , and the Chapter was then pened in due form . After confirmation of the minutes of the previous meeting , Companion John Read P . Z . installed Companions John H . Tolley as M . E . Z ., E . Grisbrook as H ., and G . W . Dixon as J . with full

aud perfect ceremony . The following officers wero then invested , viz . : Comps . Powell S . E , Flack S . N ., Strange ( by proxy ) P . S ., Carter 1 st AS ., Cantrell 2 nd A . S ., North Ritherdon D . C ., Barton , Roberts , and Bryett Stewards , and Nowell Janitor . Brother Joseph Johnson , of tho Windsor Castle Lodge , No . 771 , was approved , and exalted into the supreme degree , the newly-appointed officers working

the entire ceremony in an exceedingly creditable manner . A P . Z . s ewel was presented to the T . P . Z ., Ex Comp . H . H . Hodges , accornpanicd by highly eulogistic and well . merited remarks from tho M . E . Z . A cordial vote of thanks to Ex-Comp . John Read , as Installing First Principal , was recorded on the minutes , and tho services of ex-Comps . Devereux and Stevens in assisting him

were acknowledged from the chair . Propositions having been taken , tho Chapter was closed , and the Companions adjourned to the Castle Hotel , for necessary sustenance after arduous labour . The exigencies of the railway arrangements precluded along sitting , but the Loyal and principal R . A . toasts were duly honoured , and a pleasant hour spent by tho members of this now well-established Chapter .

Eanelagh Lodge of Instruction , No . 834 . —The regular meeting of this Lodge was held on Friday , the 20 th October , at the Bell and Anchor Hotel , Hammersmith-road , Bros . Knowles W . M ., Smith S . W ., T . Bryett J . W ., Alais P . M . Sec , Millis P . M . Treas ., W . M . Stiles S . D ., Goss J . D ., Oliver I . G ., Worthington , L . Bryett , Barker , Reid , Chidfont , Ringwood , H . Stiles , Tarrant , Collings , Purdue ,

Hancock , Barker , & c . Tho Lodge was opened and the minutes were confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Tarrant acting as candidate . Tho 2 nd section of the 1 st Lecture was worked by the W . M ., assisted by the brethren . A vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Al ' cock , the worthy host of the Clarendon Hotel ,

Hammersmith , where the Lodge of Instruction has met for some years past , for his unvarying attention and kindness shown to tho members , and the Secretary was requested to communicate the same to him , he , owing to severe illness , being unable to accommodate them . Bro . Smith was elected W . M . for the next meeting , and the Lodge of Instruction was closed .

Dalhousie Lodge of Instruction , No . 860 . — The members met at the Royal Edward Tavern , Triangle , Hackney , on Tuesday , 2 Ith inst ., for tho pnrpose of working the Fifteen Sections . The chair was taken by Bro . Webb J . W . 1 G 07 , who was supported by Bros . T . Austin P . M . 933 S . W ., Wallington P . M . 860 J . W ., Musto P . M . 1 . 319 Preceptor , Gilchrist P . M . 933 S . D ., Allen S . D . 733 J . D .,

Weige S . D . 860 I . G , The following brethren assisted the W . M . iu working the 1 ST LECTURE—Bros . Dallas , W . J . Smith , E . T . Worsley , Allen , Brown , Horsley , Turquand . 2 ND LECTURE —Bros . Cambridge , Hogarth , Hewlett , Rudderforth , T . Austin . 3 RD LECTURE —Bros . Wallington , Ashbiirncr , Perrin . The sections were admirably worked throughout , and Bros . Rudderforth , Ellis , A . G . Hogarth , Bayley ,

Fielder , and Dr . Defrics were elected members . An announcement ¦ was then made that the Fifteen Sections would be worked in the Sincerity Lodge , No . 174 , on Monday next , and the brethren present were invittd to attend . Bro . Brown appealed on behalf of the famil y of a brother who had suffered from a most painful complaint , which had resulted in his death . He represented that the family were in

dee )) di .-tiess , and made an urgent appeal , which was strongly supported by Bro . Ellis , nnd resnlted in a collection being made to assist the widow . A vote of thanks was proposed and cordiall y passed to Bro . Webb , for his kindness in presiding , and he was elected an honorary member of this Lodge of instruction . Bro . Webb made a suitable reply , aud thanked those who had assisted him in the proceedings . A vote of thanks was also passed to the officers of the evening .

The brethren met on Wednesday , the 25 th inst ., at the Masonio Hall , Air . street , Regent-street . Bros . J . Blum W . M ., V . Myers S . W ., Gnlliford J . W ., L . Jacobs Treasurer , E . P . Albert Grand Pursuivant P . M . Secretary ,

Hoohfeld I . G . aud P . M . 's Bros . J . Grunbaum , S . V . Abrahams , J De Solla and S . Pollitzer . The Lodge was opened and the minutes were confirmed . Bro . 0 . A . Norman was ballotted for aud readmitted a joining member . Bros . Louis and Davis were passed , and Messrs . B . A . Simmons and Edwin Gill were initiated , Bro . S . V , Abrahams P . M . proposed that a congratulatory letter be sent to Bro . Sir Moses Montefiore , Bart ., on his completing his 94 th year , with the

hearty good wishes of every Brother for the preservation of his health and longer life . This was carried with acclamation , and enthusiastically received . The Lodge was then closed , and the brethren partook of a banquet . The usual toasts , Loyal and Masonic , were given , Bro . E . P . Albert G . P . returned thanks for the Grand Officers . Lewis Lodge , No . 1185 . —The installation meeting was held on Saturday , the 21 st October , at the King ' s Arms Hotel , Wood Green , and was numerously attended . Bro . Alfred Durrant W . M . presided , Bro . Berrie acting as S . W ., Bro . J . H . Turner ( W . M . elect ) J . W ., the other officers all being present , together with the following visitors : —Bros . Great Northern 1287 , Brooks-Fowler and Mundy , High Cross 754 , and A . Mackenzie , Fitzroy 569 . Tho Lodge having been opened , and the minutes of tho last meeting read and signed , the W . M . proceeded to initiate Messrs . Kennett Harris , George Powell , William George Hildreth , and John Francis Chase into the mysteries and privileges of Ancient Freemasonry . The next business was the installation of

Bro . Thomas Howes Turner as Worshipful Master , and a Board of Installed Masters having been formed , Brother Turner was duly installed by the outgoing Master , Bro . Durrant . The W . M . having received the customary salutes , proceeded to invest his officers , as follow : —Bros . Shipwright S . W ., Sayer J . VV ., May P . M . Treasurer , Learod P . M . Secretary , Bone S . Brother Durrant , the retiring and Installing Master , then delivered the customary addresses , and it must be remarked that , though comparatively speaking a yonng Mason , he has worked well during his year of office , aud having closed it with satisfaction

to himself and tho members of the Lodge , ho has well earned the handsome P . M . ' s jewel which was presented him on his vacating the chair . The report of tho Audit Committee was received and adopted . The other business of the evening having been disposed of , the Lodge was closed in due form with solemn prayer .

Upton Lodge of Instruction , No . 1227 . - The usual weekly meeting of this Lodge was held at Bro . Bolton ' s , King and Queen , Norton Folgate , on Friday last , at 8 p . m . Bros . Hallowes W . M ., A . W . Fenner S . W ., Hirsch J . W ., Keyes S . D ., Cleverlev J . D ., Piercey I . G ., Towushend Secretary and Gross Preceptor . The following brethren were also present : —Bros . Bolton , M . Barnett ,

Groome and several others . The Lodge was opened in due form . The W . M . worked the 1 st degree in a very able manner , Bro . Barnett acting as candidate . Lodge opened in 2 nd degree and the ceremony of passing was rehearsed , Bro . Barnett candidate . On proposing a vote of thanks to the W . M . for tho excellent manner in which he had worked the ceremonies , for the first time in this Lodge , tho Preceptor took the opportunity of explaining to the brethren present

the necessity of adhering to the strict letter of Freemasonry iu Lodges of Instruction as in mother Lodges , as by so doing much benefit would accrue to the brethren on any futuio occasion , should their services as officers be required . It is quite clear to us that the Preceptor has the respect and esteem of every member of this rapidly rising Lodge of instruction , and we wish him every success . All business being ended , the Lodge was closed in due form with solemn prayer .

Lewis Lodge , No . 1185 . —The installation meeting was held on Saturday , the 21 st October , at the King ' s Arms Hotel , Wood Green , and was numerously attended . Bro . Alfred Durrant W . M . presided , Bro . Berrie acting as S . W ., Bro . J . H . Turner ( W . M . elect ) J . W ., the other officers all being present , together with the following visitors : —Bros . Vesper , Yarboro' 554 , Davis , Zetland 511 , Cushion

Great Northern 1287 , Brooks-Fowler and Mundy , High Cross 754 , and A . Mackenzie , Fitzroy 569 . Tho Lodge having been opened , and the minutes of tho last meeting read and signed , the W . M . proceeded to initiate Messrs . Kennett Harris , George Powell , William George Hildreth , and John Francis Chase into the mysteries and privileges of Ancient Freemasonry . The next business was the installation of

Bro . Thomas Howes Turner as Worshipful Master , and a Board of Installed Masters having been formed , Brother Turner was duly installed by the outgoing Master , Bro . Durrant . The W . M . having received the customary salutes , proceeded to invest his officers , as follow : —Bros . Shipwright S . W ., Sayer J . VV ., May P . M . Treasurer , Learod P . M . Secretary , Bone S . D ., Berrie J . D ., Hooper I . G Row

P . M . D . C ., Meen Organist , Couolly Steward , C . T . Speight P . M Tyler . Brother Durrant , the retiring and Installing Master , then delivered the customary addresses , and it must be remarked that , though comparatively speaking a yonng Mason , he has worked well during his year of office , aud having closed it with satisfaction

to himself and tho members of the Lodge , ho has well earned the handsome P . M . ' s jewel which was presented him on his vacating the chair . The report of tho Audit Committee was received and adopted . The other business of the evening having been disposed of , the Lodge was closed in due form with solemn prayer .

Upton Lodge of Instruction , No . 1227 . - The usual weekly meeting of this Lodge was held at Bro . Bolton ' s , King and Queen , Norton Folgate , on Friday last , at 8 p . m . Bros . Hallowes W . M ., A . W . Fenner S . W ., Hirsch J . W ., Keyes S . D ., Cleverlev J . D ., Piercey I . G ., Towushend Secretary and Gross Preceptor . The following brethren were also present : —Bros . Bolton , M . Barnett ,

Groome and several others . The Lodge was opened in due form . The W . M . worked the 1 st degree in a very able manner , Bro . Barnett acting as candidate . Lodge opened in 2 nd degree and the ceremony of passing was rehearsed , Bro . Barnett candidate . On proposing a vote of thanks to the W . M . for tho excellent manner in which he had worked the ceremonies , for the first time in this Lodge , tho Preceptor took the opportunity of explaining to the brethren present

the necessity of adhering to the strict letter of Freemasonry iu Lodges of Instruction as in mother Lodges , as by so doing much benefit would accrue to the brethren on any futuio occasion , should their services as officers be required . It is quite clear to us that the Preceptor has the respect and esteem of every member of this rapidly rising Lodge of instruction , and we wish him every success . All business being ended , the Lodge was closed in due form with solemn prayer .
