The foregoing Petitions being in all respects regular , the Committee recommend that the prayers thereof be respectively granted . The Committee have further to report that a complaint was preferred by Companion Charles Horsley , tho Z of the Yarborough Chapter , No . 811 , Brighton , against the Scribe E , Companion C . J . Smith , of the same Chapter . The various letters which had passed between the above-mentioned Companions having disclosed a very

serious absence of harmony amongst the members generally , the Committee felt compelled to suspend the Chapter . Having summoned the parties before them and fully investigated the case , the Committee continued the suspension until the members of tbe Chapter could arrive at a good understanding amongst themselves , and petition for its removal . This the Committee are happy to be able to report has been effected , the suspension has been removed , and the Chapter authorized to resume its labours .

ON this , the most important event in the history of Scottish Freemasonry , when , notwithstanding the unfavourable state of the weather , nearly 8 , 000 of tho brethren , the representatives of 228 Lodges , turned out and remained fully four hoursin the wet to testify their devotion to the Craft , as well as their loyalty to the Prince , as the Patron of the Order in Scotland—a more severe ordeal than the

visit of their English brethren to the Albert Hall—on such an occasion a few observations on some of the leading incidents of the day may not be out of place . First in the procession came the bairns of Mother Kilwinning No . 0 , headed by Bros . J . A . Ferguson and J . Tweed , of Glasgow , the Proxy Wardens of the Lodge , the Master of the Lodge , who in virtue of that

office is Provincial Grand Master of Ayrshire , as well as the Secretary , Bro . R . Wylie , P . P . G . M . Ayrshire , being in his place as G . L . Officer . There were 148 other members of this , which claims to be the oldest Lodge in existence . St . Mary ' s Chapel , from Edinburgh , which claims almost equal antiquity , was only feebly represented in the procession ; and the same must be said of No . 2 , Canongate

Kilwinning , but as they made agood display last month at Edinburgh , on tbe occasion of the Queen's visit , their loyalty must not be doubted . No . 3 , St . John ' s , Perth , was well represented , and with a deputation from the P . G . L . of Perthshire East , and their band and banner , well maintained the honour of the / air city . No . 3 £ , St . John , Glasgow , showed in full force , as might have been expected from their being

the senior Lodge in the Province . They were headed by their Wardens , Bros . Sellars and Brownlie , and twelve of their members had the honour of carrying the working tools , & c , which were thus distributed to the brethen : —Deacon B . with the inscription , a copy of which was given in our last . P . M . 's Cruckesban , McMillan , and Fletcher the corn , wine , and oil , Gavin Park the plans , and , though last , not least in the estimation either of the Lodges or of tho onlookers , Bros . Dick and Dunn , the Secretary and Treasurer , tbe hermetically sealed case with the coins , carried in an old oak box , highly prized by tho Lodge as that in which , many years ago , their old charter of incorporation as an

Opposition Lodge was found , during some researches made m the crypt of the cathedral . Tho box has four locks on it , two to the lid and two to a drawer at the bottom ; it is handsomely carved , aud at each end , over the handle , is a cherubim with its wings extended the full width of the box ; on the front is carved the following : — " God save tho King aud Masons' Craft , 1684 ; and below , in the form of a star , the square , compass , plumb rule , level , and 2-foot gauge .

We recently quoted a statement from an Indian contemporary , to the ell ' ect that the natives about Dinapore , Pauia , and neighbourhood have lately been seized with the belief that the British soldiers have orders to decapitate all
