The presentation being completed , the hall re-echoed with the plaudits of the brethren , evincing , by this demonstration , how heartily they concurred in the interesting ceremony that had just taken place . W . Brother Sorabjee Navarosjee Cooper then rose , evidently intensely affected by the very high honour nnd rewards that had been conferred upon him , and briefly , bnt most appropriately , gave feeling

expression to the deep and lasting gratitude which he considered he laboured nnder to the brethren , who had , with one accord , come forward so nobly and so generously to acknowledge ancl requite the poor services he had , with heart and goodwill , rendered to the Lodge . After which , he said that , aa it had lately been brought to hia notice that there existed a Benevolent Fund in connection with the District

Grand Lodge , he begged to present the Lodge with 100 Ra ., to be forwarded to the Treasurer of that fond . On resuming his chair , W . Bro . Cooper received quite an ovation from the brethren , and , to speak the truth , he well deserved it , for he had worked hard and earnestly to promote tho prosperity of his Lodge , and to further the best interests of the Craft , and ,

on the evening in question , he had heartfelt satisfaction in witnessing the saccessf ivi result of hia ardnoua labours by the admirable manner in which the Lodge was worked by his successor in office , by the large number of members present , and by tho high and influential brethren of the Craft belonging to sister Lodges who had met to do him honour .

Bro . Framjee Dnishawjee Petit waa subsequently nominated Grand Steward , to represent the Lodge in the District Grand Lodge , which is to meet in Quarterly Convocation on the 7 th proximo . This terruinated the proceedings of the Lodge , which waa then closed in peace and harmony . As " Eastern Star " is proverbial for its hospitality , a magnificent

banquet had been prepared , to which the District Grand Master , his officers , and the distinguished company of visitors were invited . The entire space of the capacious hall was filled to overflowing . The Stewards deserve the highest encomiums for the sumptuous fare provided , and the excellent quality of the wines . Tbe usual conventional toasts followed , and the speech of the D . G .

Master , in proposing the health of tho W . Master and prosperity to Lodge " Eastern Star , " was characterised by that simplicity , grace and elegant expression for which he is BO well known and appreciated . The company broke up before High Twelve , the D . G . Master and his popular Deputy , W . Bro . M . Balfour , having a short time

previously taken their departure . On the whole , the meeting was a great success , and bore testimony to the firm hold which our ancient Craft has taken amongst the first classes of the native community , who vio with each other in observing , in the strictest manner , all those peculiar duties devolving npon them as " Sons of Light . "

The General Committee of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls was held on Thursday , the 26 th inst ., Bro . B . Head P . G . D . in tho chair . The minutes were read and confirmed . Nominations for the House and Audit Committee were handed in . Bro . Dr . Ramsay gave a notice of

motion— " That , in the opinion of this Committee , the accommodation for the officials of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls in Freemasons' Hall is totally inadequate

for the increased and increasing labours which they have to perform , and that it be referred to the Board of General Purposes , to ascertain what accommodation should be provided . "

Mrs . Johnson the mother of the girl who gained the 12 th place at the recent election for the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , desires to express her thanks to those brethren who so kindly supported her .

The Freemason ' s " Jamshedi Naoroz Festival" was celebrated , with great eclat , at Bombay , on the 21 st March last , by the members of Lodge "Rising Star of Western India " S . C . 342 ; Lodge " Rising Sun , " S . C . 506 ; Lodge " Eastern Star , " E . C . 1189 ; and Lodge "Cyrus , " E . C . 1359 . We hope to publish details in our next issue .

F The 22 nd Annnal Ball of Des Cnisinisva Francais waa held on Tuesday , the 2 lth inst ., at Willis ' s Rooms , King . street , St . James' ? , and was numerously attended . Dancing was kept up with great spirit , nnder the inspiring influence of Bro . T . Adams P . G . P ., who had conducted tbe band for the last 22 years .
