CORNWALL MASONIC CHARITY ASSOCIATION .

THE sixth annual meeting of this Association was held at Truro on the 11 th inst ., when the statement of accounts showed a total of receipts amounting to £ 273 , and available for distribution to the Masonio Charity Institutions £ 283 10 s . On the ballot being taken it was found that the following were entitled to a presentation of ten guineas eaob , viz .: —St . Andrew ' s Lodge , Tywardieath ; Moleswovth ,

ALDERSGATE LODGE , No . 1657 .

ON Monday , the 16 th instant , the installation meeting of the Aldersgate Lodge was held at the Albion , nnder the presi . denoy of Brother Hudson , CO ., the Worshipful Master . Bro . Sir John B . Monokton installed Bro . W . R . Webb in his usual impressive manner . The other Offioers appointed were Bros . Larkin S . W ., Fuller J . W ., White P . M . Treasurer , Jolliffe P . M . Secretary , Rawlinson S . D ., Shotter J . D ., Croft I . G . The olosing of the Lodge was followed

by an excellent banquet . The nsnal Loyal and Craft toasts were given and heartily received , and Bro . Sandeman replied for the Grand Offioers . Bro . Alderman Reynals gave the health of the Worshipful Master , remarking that few words were necessary to com . mend this toast to their notioe . Most of them knew the WorBhipful Master as a most intimate friend , and when initiated in that Lodge .

some years ago , they all recognised that in him were abilities whioh would force him to the front , not only in the Lodge , but in the world outside . He asked them to drink to the health of the Worshipful Master ; and he felt certain that , among the many memories which their Master wonld have in the future , none wonld afford him so much satisfaction as those which would surround him during tho year that

he was Master of the Aldersgate Lodge . The Master , who was loudly cheered , heartily thanked the members of the Lodge for having received him with so much kindness , and especially for the exceedingly warm and kindly manner in whioh they had welcomed the toaBt that evening . Iu proposing the health of the Installing Master , Bro . Sir John Monckton , who had so anspicionsly installed

him into office that evening , the Master said they owed a double debt of gratitude to Bro . Sir John , first , for remaining with them , and secondly , for the very interesting ceremony he had performed in the Lodge . He was afraid that they very often trespassed too much upon his kindness , but his high position iu the Craft must be their excuse . Bro . Sir John Monokton most warmly thanked the Lodge for the

honour they had done him in inviting him to instal the Worshipful Master for the year ensuing . It had been his good fortune to instal some hundreds of Masters , and he naturally gravitated to City Lodges . The Aldersgate Lodge was essentially a City Lodge . He prophesied for their very promising Master a most successful and auspicious year of office . The Worshipful Master proposed the health of

Bro . Jolliffe , nnd said he was greatly pleased that the duty which he had to perform had fallen to his lot . Bro . Jolliffe was a gentleman who had formed a very high ideal of Masonry , and he was one who liberally carried out the tenets of the Order . He congratulated the members of the Lodge upon having a gentleman acting as Secretary to the Lodge who took such an interest in the Craft , and who was

possessed of so mnch energy and activity . Bro . Jolliffe not only was Seoretary of that Lodge , but he was Treasurer of two other Lodges , and a Past Master of three Lodges , besides having been for many years a most consistent supporter of the Masonic Charities . On behalf of the Lodge he had to present to their respected friend the handsome service of plate which they saw before , him . It bore the

inscription : —" Presented to Bro . E . Y . Jolliffe by the members of the Aldersgate Lodge as a slight token of gratitude for his invaluable services as Secretary , and iu recognition of bis constant and uniform kindness to the members and their friends . " Bro . Jolliffe thanked the members of the Lodge for the handsome manner in which tboy had recognised his services to the Lodge . In that Lodge he had

received nothing but kindness from the whole of the brethren , and for any little service which he had rendered he had always felt most amply repaid by the conrtesy with whioh he was always received by the brethren . He also thanked the members for the val uable presentation they had made to him . Bros . Lovett and Hudson ( who had come from Yorkshire to do honour to the

Worshipful Master ) replied for the Visitors , and other toasts followed , including the Past Masters , the Treasurer and Secretary of the Lodge , and the proceedings closed . An excellent selection of music was performed , under tho direction of Bro . Sidney Tower , by Miss Ada Patterson , Miss Eleanor Reos ; Bros . Reginald Groouie , Robert Hellin , Victor Buzian , and H . W . Sobartau— Oity Press .
