HARTINGTON LODGE , No . 1021 . ON Tuesday , 10 th inst ., the members of this Lodge celebrated their annual installation festival , when thero was a very large gathering of the Fraternity . The Lodge was opened at three o ' clock , when Bro . Waddington proceeded t «> instal Bro . J . P . Williams , Junior Warden of the Lodge , as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year . Tho ancient ceremony was most effectively and impressively
rendered . Bro . Waddington being ably seconded by Bro . Worrall P . M . as Director of Ceremonies , and Bro . H . Cook P . M ., who delivered the explanatory addresses to the Officers , the work of tbe Installing Master and his aids being cordially appreciated by the brethren . The I . P . M . ( Bro . Davison ) would have taken part in the ceremony , but was > J unfortunately confined to the house through an accident . The newly-iustnlh * W . M . appoint * 1 and invested his

a handsome P . M . ' s jewel was presented to Bro . J . Waddington , the retiring Master , iu acknowledgment of his services to the Lodge during the past year . The jewel , whioh was the gift of the Lodge , was presented by the W . M ., who referred in flattering terms to the worth of the recipient , and the gift was appropriately acknowledged by Bro . Waddington . At half-past five the brethren
adjouarned to the Imperial Hotel , where an excellent banquet was served under the personal supervision of Mr . Thomas Masterraan . The newly-installed W . M . presided , being supported in the west and south by his Senior and Jnnior Wardens . Having in appropriate terms proposed the loyal toasts , which were heartily honoured , the W . M . gave the Right Hon . the Earl of Lathom Pro G . M . and Prov .
G . M ., tbe Earl of Crawford andBalcarres D . P . G . M ., Provincial Grand Officers Present and Past . They all knew , he said , the great Masonic worth of their Prov . Grand Master , who was one of the most aotive and influential Masons in England . The affairs of their Province weie most efficiently managed under his auspices , and all who attended the Provincial meetings could not fail to be impressed by
what they saw and heard . He had great pleasure in associating with the toast the name of their distinguished Brother Cc . jk , and he was sure they would receive the toast with the enthusiasm it deserved . The toast having been heartily honoured , Bro . Cook , who was received with applause , replied in his usual happy style , and at the request of the company , who would take no denial , sang "John

of the tree . The I . P . M ., in replying , thanked Bro . Cook for the encouragement and assistance he had at all times rp < eived from bun . It was through that esteemed brother he ( Bro . He strongly urged the young members of the Lodge to make themselves thoroughly acquaint' 1
with Masonry , and to aot upon its precepts in their daily lives . They could not fail to benefit by it , as its noble teachings would tend to make them better men . Bro . Charity , he said , was the very essence of Masonry , and tbey had every reason to bo proud of what their great Order had accomplished in that
direction .
