CRAET : METROPOLITAN

United Mariners Lodge , No . SO . rpHE members held an enjoyable meeting at the Restaurant JL Frascati , Oxford Street , on Tuesday evening , 16 th instant , to inaugurate the winter * session . The chief item of interest on the agenda , apart from the purely Masonic business , was the question as to whether a Ladies banquet

should take the place of the ordinary Lodge meeting in November . After a lengthy discussion the question was finally decided in the affirmative , and Bros . Robeson P . M ., H . R . Boyle , and L . 1 Wilkins were unanimously elected a Committee to work in conjunction with the Officers of the Lodge to make all the necessary arrangements .

An adjournment was then made to one of the banquettmg halls , where ample justice was done to a supper , after which the usual toasts were honoured .

Its success has been great , but never greater than at the present time , and this satisfactory state of affairs has been brought about not only by the Masonic working of the Lodge , but by the perfect business tact imported into the management by the Treasurer and

Before the Lodge was closed , the new Worshipful Master informed the Brethren that he intended taking , the office of Steward for the next Festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , and hoped to have the support of the Brethren . Bro . C . Norrington P . M . Secretary advocated the claims of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , pointing out that the Lodge had subscribed 15

guineas only to that Institution , while it had voted no guineas to the Benevolent Institution , and 70 guineas to the Boys School . He hoped to have the Lodge vote for 25 guineas on his list . It was proposed by Bro . Hunton I . P . M ., and seconded by Bro . Carl Fleck P . M ., that 20 guineas should be voted , but subsequently this subject was ordered to stand over until the January meeting .

A like decision was arrived at with respect to a motion of the W-M . : "That the Warrant of this Lodge be used to start a Beadon Lodge of Instruction , with Bro . L . Faull as Preceptor , at the Britannia Hotel , High Street , Peckham . " After the usual i : hearty good wishes " of the visiting Brethren the Lodge was closed , and the company adjourned to a banquet . The usual toasts were subsequently honoured .

A Past Masters jewel was presented to Bro . Hunton who , m the course of his reply to the toast of the Immediate Past Master , said he had had a very happy year , and had received great kindness from the members of the Lodge , and excellent assistance from the Past Masters .
