IN connection with the visit of the Provincial Grand Lodge to Maldon , the Mayor , at a recent gathering , said the trustees of the Congregational Chapel had granted the use of the Lecture Hall to the Freemasons for the meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge , on Wednesday , 15 th July , and he thought the Council and Borough ought to give the Masons a friendly welcome . The

joint committee of St . Peter , No . 1024 , and Blackwater , No . 1977 Lodges had applied for the use of the Eecreation Ground on the day of the visit , with power to close it so as to be able to charge for admission if they thought fit . Alderman Pitch thought the visit would be a good , thing for the town , and proposed that the request be granted . This was seconded by Councillor "Freeman , and carried .

We regret to hear that the ill-health of the Countess of Warwick , who is now prostrated at Easton Lodge , Dunmow , Essex , is causing considerable anxiety . Her ladyship has broken down under the strain of her manifold public and

private duties , and her medical attendant has enjoined absolute quietude for the next three months . Her ladyship , under his advice , has relinquished a proposed tour in Norway , and has cancelled all engagements until September .
