PEMBROKE LODGE , No . 1299 . THE annual meeting took place on Thursday , 18 th inst ., at the Sheil Park Hotel , Liverpool , and was attended by a large number of members and visitors . Bro . T . 0 . Jagger W . M .-elect was installed in a most impressive manner by Bro . S . H . Jones P . M . D . C

The retiring W . M . Bro . Edwin Parkinson was presonted with a handsome Past Master's jewel , a gold watch and chain for Mrs . Parkinson , and a silver cup for Miss Parkinson , who was born during his year of office . The banquet was held at the Church Hall , Sheil Road , and was provided by Bro . T . Saxon , to whom great praise is due for the excellent manner in which it was served . The musical portion of the entertainment was under the direction of Bro . J . Griffiths Organist .

CARADOC LODGE , No . 1674 . ON Monday , 15 th inst ., at Rhyl , after the ordinary business of the Lodge had been disposed of , the W . M . Bro . J . Y . Strachan , on behalf of the Brethren , presented the Treasurer Bro . H . A . Steer P . M . P . Z . P . P . G . J . W . with a handsome sterling silver sweet-meat dish , in recognition of past services . The inscription on the present was as follows :

Presented to BRO . H . A . STEER P . M . P . Z . P . P . G . J . W ., by the Caradoc Lodge , No . 1674 , in recognition of his services as Treasurer , and as a token of Masonic worth 15 th March 1897 .

Bro . K . McEwen P . M . P . P . G . Std . B . Secretary was also presented with a handsome 14 day marble timepiece , striking the hour and half hours . The inscription plate bore the following : Presented to BBO . K . MCEWEN P . M . P . P . G . Std . B .,

by the Caradoc Lodge , No . 1674 , in recognition of his services as Secretary , and as a token of Masonic worth 15 th March 1897 .

In making the presentations , the "Worshipful Master referred to the fact that both of the Brethren had been connected with the Caradoc Lodge since its foundation . Bro . McEwen had been Secretary for many years , and Bro . Steer Treasurer for about twelve years . The recipients suitably responded , and subsequently the Brethren present , which was the largest ordinary Lodge held for years , partook of supper at the Royal Hotel .

CONSTANCE LODGE , No . 2135 . AT the usual meeting , held in the Masonic Hall , Consett , on Wednesday , 17 th inst ., Bro . Chas . Stephenson S . W . was unanimously elected Worshipful Master , while Bros . George J . Christopher P . M . was re-appointed Treasurer , and George Dryden sen . Tyler for the ensuing year .

MANCHESTER LODGE , No . 2554 . THE regular meeting was held at the Freemasons' Hall , Manchester , on Friday , 12 th inst ., Bro . Thomas Plumpton W . M . There was a very good attendance . After the reading and confirmation of minutes Bro . Percy Cryer was raised to the sublime degree of M . M . by Bro . Buckley Carr P . M . 1458

P . P . G . D . C . At the festive board , Loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and duly honoured , Bro . Carr being highly commended upon the manner in which he had performed the ceremony .

INSTBUCTION

WESTBOURNE LODGE , No . 733 . THE annual banquet of this Lodge of Instruction took place at Bro . E . Stevens ' s , the Prince of Wales Hotel , Bishop's Road , Paddington , on Tuesday . Bro . C . T . Brown W . M . 733 occupied the chair , supported by Bro . W . J . Mason P . P . G . D . Surrey , H . Dehane P . P . S . G . D . Essex Preceptor , R . J . Rogers P . M . Treasurer , G . D . Mogford P . M . 2362 Secretary , J . Welford P . M ., J . W . Curtis P . M ., C . J . Biron P . M ., W . H . Faircloth P M ., W . M . Roberts

P . M ., 0 . Butters W . M . 2163 , T . W . Mogford W . M . 2362 , Patten P . M ., Knight P . M . 1585 , Hatton P . M . 1642 , J . Cuff P . M ., several other Past Masters ; Bro . C Halston , A . Williams , Lewis , Bacon , Wheeler , Weaver , Phipps , White , Manne , Bagnall , Handover , Beesley , Thomas , Busby , Miller , Groom , Crow , Barter , G . Butcher , G . Walker , G . Wall , & c . Altogether there were between fifty and sixty present .

Bro . Dehane , in proposing the toast of the Mother Lodge , alluded to the support the Lodge of Instruction received from its Brethren , and expressed gratitude for the approbation implied by the continuation of the sanction to work under their warrant . He congratulated the Lodge on the great support it gave to the Charities , which the Lodge of Instruction was endeavouring to emulate .

Bro . Welford P . M . responded , and expressed the pleasure he felt at the progress the Lodge of Instruction was making under the Preceptorship of his friend Bro . Dehane . Bro . W . J . Mason proposed prosperity to the Lodge of Instruction , of which he was proud to be a member . He should be most happy to attend

more frequently , but his time was so fully taken up by the meetings of the Board of General Purposes and other Masonic duties . He concluded b y wishing the Lodge every prosperity , and was sure that with so excellent a Preceptor—whom he had had the pleasure of knowing for nearly thirty years—it could not do otherwise than progress .

Bro . R . J . Rogers P . M . Treasurer responded , expressing his satisfaction at the success of the Lodge , which was prosperous and established on a firm basis . Its success was due , not so much to the members of No . 733 as to the Brethren of the Bloornsbury Rifles Lodge . With the support of the two it must go on and prosper . Bro . G . D . Mogford P . M . Secretary spoke of the good fellowship that existed among the members of the Lodge , and expressed the pleasure he felt in being able to take an active part in its management .

Reports Of Meetings

Bro . Dehane was much gratified at the attendance at the different meetings of the Lodge and the kindness he received from all who were present . The progress made by those who regularly attended was very satisfactory to the executive , while the co-operation of the Officers and Brethren of the Mother Lodge was evidence that they approved of the working and ritual adopted . He concluded by remarking that a more united executive could not be in authority at any Lodge of Instruction .

Bro . Thomas W . Mogford W . M . of the Bloornsbury Rifles Lodge had much pleasure in proposing the health of the chairman—Bro . C T . Brown W . M . of the Mother Lodge . It afforded him great gratification to see Bro . Brown presiding at the annual dinner of the Lodge of Instruction , and he complimented him on the able manner in which he officiated . The President of the evening was a kind hearted Brother , who devoted heart and soul to Masonry and its charities .

The President returned thanks for the hearty reception accorded him , and then proposed the toast of the Visitors . He was very pleased to see many familiar faces around him , and assured the guests of the evening they would always receive a hearty welcome at the Westbourne Lodge of Instruction . Ho strongly advised younger Brethren to regularly attend , as by so doing that would make that progress so essential in Freemasonry .

Bro . Patten P . M . thanked the W . M . for the kind reception given the Visitors . If the Lodge would accept him as a member he should be very pleased to join . Bro . Lewis expressed himself in similar terms , as also did other of the Visitors . The next toast was that of the host , Bro . E . Stevens , who was warmly complimented by the W M . for the excellent way in which he had provided for the comfort and enjoyment of the company .

_ Bro . Stevens said it was a great pleasure to hear his efforts had given satisfaction . He had had the gratificaton of being a member of the Westbourne Lodge for over twenty years , and could not speak too highly of the Brethren who were associated with it . Other toasts were given and acknowledged , the whole of the proceedings being very enjoyable .

During the evening several of the Brethren contributed songs , & c , among others who thus added to the pleasures of the meeting being Bros . Wheeler , Barry Lindon , George Goddard , R . J . Rogers , G . Mogford , and G . Barter , the latter of whom gave an excellent recitation . We compliment Bro . E . Stevens on the excellent way in which he catered , the viands were all that could be desired , and were served in good style . The Prince of Wales Hotel is one that can be highly recommended , under the management of its courteous host , Bro . E . Stevens .

WHITTINGTON LODGE , No . 862 . AT Bro . Percy Day's , the Red Lion , Poppin ' s Court , Fleet Street , on Wednesday , 17 th inst .. Bros . Victor Wright W . M ., Kobelt S . W ., Clarkson J . W ., Runceford P . M . Preceptor , Felt P . M . Secretary ,. Latham S . D ., Day J . D ., Hartley I . G ., Kemp , Wright , Gotch , Howard , and several others .

The Lodge was opened up to the third degree . The ceremony of raising was rehearsed , after which the first and third sections were worked by Bro . Kobelt , with the able assistance of the Brethren . The Lodge was closed down and Bro . Kobelt was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing week . The annual dinner will take place on Wednesday , the 31 st inst ., at 1 o ' clock .

CRUSADERS LODGE , No . 1677 . THERE was a good attendance at Bro . W . H . Drury ' s , St . John ' s Gate Tavern , St . John's Square , Clerkenwell , on Wednesday , including Bros . J . W . Doubtfire W . M ., H . J . Collier S . W ., S . J . Fletcher J . W ., C . Weeden P . M . Preceptor , Dr . W . H . Hunter P . M . Treasurer , E . Dimes Secretary , G . H . Luetchford S . D ., L . H . Ball J . D ., A . G . Ward I . G ., A . Humphreys , A . J . Blake , J . Ward , J . Carnaby , A . J . Trimmer , A . G . Ball , W . H . Drury , Winter , Bailey , Lambert , Garrity , Wynman , and several others .

The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Humphreys as candidate , after which Bros . Winter and Garrity answered the questions and retired . Bro . Trimmer was examined and entrusted . The W . M . opened the Lodge in the second degree , and the ceremony of passing was rehearsed , the same Brother acting as candidate . The Lodge was closed in the second degree . The Apprentices were re-admitted . Bros . Bailey , Winter , Lambert , and

Garrity were unanimously elected members , and Bro . Collier W . M . for the next meeting . The working at this Lodge is all that can be desired , the room is especially adapted for Masonic purposes , while Brethren wishing to learn could not find a better Preceptor than Bro . 0 . Weeden P . M ., who is highly appreciated by all who know him . The Lodge meets every Wednesday evening , at 8 . 30 .

BROMLEY ST . LEONARD LODGE , No . 1805 . AT the Bow Bells , Bow Road , on Wednesday , 24 th inst ., Bro . H . Harris W . M ., Pollock S . W ., Joss J . W ., W . Johnson S . D ., Alabaster J . D ., A . Silk I . G ., DeCasseres P . M . Preceptor , Thornton Secretary , Fennell , Bettinson , E . Silk , Freeland , and M . Corper jun . The Lodge was opened in the first and second degrees , and Bro . Fennell

answered the questions leading to the third . The Lodge was opened up and the W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of raising , Bro . Fennell as candidate . Lodge was resumed to the first degree , and the W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of investiture of Officers . The Brethren assisted the W . M . to work the third section of the lecture . Bro . Corper answered the questions leading to the second degree .

A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Bro . Harris , it being the first time he had occupied the chair at this Lodge of Instruction , for the very able manner he rehearsed the ceremony . Bro . Pollock was elected to the chair lor Wednesday next , 31 st inst .

CITADEL LODGE , No . 1897 . THERE were upwards of fifty Brethren present at the meeting on Friday , 19 th inst ., at the Farleigh Hotel , Amhurst Road , Stoke Newington , when Bro . James Terry P . G . Sword Bearer of England rehearsed the ceremonies of Consecration and Installation , and won the applause and thanks of his audience .

The musical arrangements of the evening were under the direction of Bro . F . W . Bishop 1056 , and added considerably to the impressiveness of the ceremonial .

Lodge was resumed to the first degree , and the W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of investiture of Officers . The Brethren assisted the W . M . to work the third section of the lecture . Bro . Corper answered the questions leading to the second degree .

A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Bro . Harris , it being the first time he had occupied the chair at this Lodge of Instruction , for the very able manner he rehearsed the ceremony . Bro . Pollock was elected to the chair lor Wednesday next , 31 st inst .

CITADEL LODGE , No . 1897 . THERE were upwards of fifty Brethren present at the meeting on Friday , 19 th inst ., at the Farleigh Hotel , Amhurst Road , Stoke Newington , when Bro . James Terry P . G . Sword Bearer of England rehearsed the ceremonies of Consecration and Installation , and won the applause and thanks of his audience .

The musical arrangements of the evening were under the direction of Bro . F . W . Bishop 1056 , and added considerably to the impressiveness of the ceremonial .
