Pond ' s best style , while an excellent string band gave forth sweet musio . After the banquet the usual loyal toasts were given , and then the ladies and brethren adjourned to tho concert room .
We may add that the manufacture of the casket , which was universally admired , was entrusted to the eminent firm of Mappin and Webb , of Oxford Street , London , W .

Harvey the Steward of the Club , and Mrs . Harvey . An interesting feature in connection with tbe proceedings was the presentation of a handsome and costly testimonial fco Bro . Cooper , for a long series of years the active and popular Secretary of tbe Lodge . Over sixty brethren attended , and
a larger number would have been present but for fche inclement weather . Bro . MoBryde the W . M . presided , and the company included P . M . ' s Jew , Twose , Cooper , Kitt , Parson , Spinney , Edgcumbe , J . Sweet ; Bros . Soper S . W ., Luke J . W ., Gibbens S . D ., Taylor I . G ., Maitland D . C , Cooper A . D . M . made the presentation to Bro . Cooper , whioh consisted of a handsome repeating chime clock , in an ebony case mounted with gold , and striking the hours and quarters on five cathedral gongs . An inscription on a silver
plate read , " Presented to W . Bro . C H . Cooper , P . P . G . D . by Lodge Fortitude , 105 , in recognition of his 16 years of faithful and valuable service as Secretary . 19 th February , 1892 . H . A . MoBryde W . M . " The clock was selected from the stock of Bro . S . Edgcumbe , Cornwall Street . The W . M . said he made the presentation with much pleasure , for no one recognised more fully than he did that Bro . Cooper
had' long deserved somo such recognition of bis services , and they were indebted to the perseverance of Bro . Kitt in getting up the presentation . Bro . Cooper thanked the Lodge for the gift , and those personally who had moved in the matter . He hoped to be spared for some time yet to be of further service to the Lodge .
Between the toasts several brethren gave recitations and songs , and a very pleasant evening was passed . Among the entertainers were Bros . Jew , Twose , White , Gibbins , Kinton Bond , James , Symons , Cummings , and Pearce . A choice programme of music was also played , by an excellent band .
CAPPER LODGE , No . 1076 . A REGULAR meeting of this Lodge was held at tho Guildhall Tavern , on the 11 th inst ., under the presidency of Bro . W . L . Crow , supported by Past Masters McCarthy , Watkins , and Dorton ( acting as I . P . M . ) The Officers in attendance were Bros . Whita S . W ., Ward J . W ., Tapley P . M . ( acting Secretary pro tern ) , Sayers S . D ., Oates J . D ., Higgins I . G ., Thompson Steward , Sherwin Organist ,
and Turbefield Tyler . Lodge being duly opened , Bro . Rouse Tea was admitted as Fellow Craftsman , and Bro . Griffith was raised to the degree of M . M . Bro . McCarthy then proceeded to thoroughly explain the conditions necessary to be observed to form a Royal Arch Chapter . Bros . Higgins and Tapley , authorised by the Committee
appointed to carry out all the arangements for the ladies' night on the second Thursday in March , then announced that everything necessary was progressing in a favourable manner . The traditional history was given by Bro . Crow . Other bnsiness having , been trans . acted , fche Lodge was duly closed and the brethren adjourned .

AT a regular meeting of this Lodge , held at the Masonic Hall on Tuesday , the 16 th inst ., ifc was unanimously resolved thafc on account of the death of the Most Worshipfnl Provincial Grand Master of Berkshire , his late Royal Highness the Duke of Clarence and Avondale , no ; banquet should be held during this year , and that an additional twenty guineas be devoted to Charity , and fifty guineas bo spent on wood panelling in the Lodge-room .

A brilliant gathering it was , nearly every visitor and many of fche members being personal friends of the genial Tom , who ia widely known and much likod , his Hotel in High Street being the meeting place of

' s , the newly installed W . M . was proclaimed and
saluted in the customary manner . The following brethren were invested Officers for the ensuing year , addressed and placed in their respective positions by Bro . Hugh Rowlands P . There being no further business , hearty good wishes were expressed by the numerous visitors , unci the Lodgo was closed in peace and harmony . The brethren afterwards celebrated the Festival of St . John , with
a recherche banquet , the preparing and serving of which reflected tho highest credit on the gonial host and his able assistants . The menu card was printed in blue and silver , and bore a capital photograph of Bro . Tom Wood . Tho name cards were of various designs , whilst the list of songs , readings , & c , together with a complete copy of the words of that beautiful song " Here ' s to his health " were
printed in blue on a separate sheet , with a button hole neatly arranged in the folds of a serviette , and a choice collection of hothouse flowers , fruit , & c , the table presented a most charming coup d'teil . The W . M . proposed the preliminary toasts , Bro . Corner P . M . P . G . Deputy D . C , replying on behalf of the V . W . Deputy P . G . M . the Earl of Crawford and Bslcarres , and the Provincial Grand
Officers . In doing so Bro . Corner said that since he had had the honour of Provincial rank conferred upon him , he had discovered amongst the Officers men of undoubted merit and ability , who entered heart and soul into the duties they had to fulfil , and particularly in furthering the cause of the great watchword of their Order , viz ., Charity . He impressed upon every Brother the necessity for
doing their utmost for the Charities , and endeavour to distinguish themselves by their zeal and liberality in the cause of our Masonio Institutions , when doubtless such good work would be fully recognised and rewarded by Prov . Grand Lodge . In announcing the next toast , Bro . Corner , who acted as Dir . of Cers ., said , usually fche Masonic Charities were left on these occasions to be proposed
at a later period of tho evening , but he thought so important a toasfc should precodo nearly every other ; at any rate this was the opinion of the Victoria Lodge , and he felt great pleasure in calling upon Bro . Joseph Lees P . M . and Treasurer to propose it . Bro . Lees , on rising , said he felt extremely obliged to tho W . M . for giving him the privilege of proposing such a toast . He quite agreed with
Bro . Corner the tonst should take precedence of almost every other . Charity should bn the watchword of every true Mason , who should never lose sight of the fact that it was for this grand virtue Masonry was founded , and it was vastly important that our grand institutions should be well supported , and continue to be a credit to the Craft . No sermon or address he had ever heard in the cause of
Charity eclipsed tho beautiful words that every brother koew , viz ., charity may justly be called the distinguishing characteristic of a Freemason ' s heart , and like its sister morcy blesses him who gives as well as him who receives . Bro . Lees informed the brethren that this was the coming of age of the Victoria Lodge , and it behoved
them to make special efforts in tha cause of Charity , and their subscriptions larger than they had been before . The G . A . O . T . U . had bountifully blessed them , and as our words and actions were noted by him , he ( Bro . Leee ) hoped when each brother ' s record was made up hereafter , thafc their charitable acts would occupy a large space in the Book of Life . Bro . Lees concluded by eulogising
