Oar reader * will donbtless remember the law suit for slanderous defamation of Freemasonry which took plaoe on the 4 th February 1891 , between the FreemaBons and Jesuits of Madagascar , before the Court of the Residence General of France . And they

will also probably recollect that judgment was given condemning the Jesuits to a fine and costs . This judgment was appealed against by the Jesuits . Tbe appeal being made to the Superior Court of Rennion , with the result that the decision of the Court of

the Residence General of France was reversed . The Freemasons then appealed to the Cour de Cassation at Paris , and gained the day . The Jesuits , determined not to yield , finally referred tbe case to the Appeal Court

at Aix , so that it should be again tried on its original grounds . This has been done , and the Supreme Conrt has confirmed the judgment of the Court of the Residence General . —Madagascar New .
