After preliminary work had been disposed of , a ballot was taken for the admission of Mr . C . S . Mote ; this was unanimous in his favour , and he was duly initiated into the Order by the W . M . for the Anniversary Festival of the Girls' School , ancl Bro . Solomon J . W . said he had a ballot draw for the sum of five guineas which he would be pleased to place on Bro . Briggs ' s list . The acting Secretary read the report of the Committee for the purpose of establishing a Benevolent Fund to bo attached to the Lodge . The consideration of this was deferred until October , when tho matter will be fully

discussed . The Lodge was then closed until October , and the brethren sat down to a substantial dinner . The W . M . proposed the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts . He was sure the brethren would excuse him making long speeches ; he sincerely hoped all would enjoy themselves . Bro . Briggs was pleased at having to propose the health of the W . M . ; the brethren had heard how he had done the work ; during the present year they might be sure they had the right

man in the right place . The W . M . in reply thanked Bro . Briggs , and also the brethren for the hearty reception they had given the toast . He should look to the brethren for their kind support to enable him to perform his duties to their satisfaction . The remaining toasts customary on these occasions were fully honoured , and able responses were made . The proceedings throughout were of a most agreeable character .
