ballot was taken for fonr brethren for advancement , namely BroF . Clayton , Clements , H . G . Blackburn and Scattergood , they being duty accepted were advanced to the degree of Mark Master Mason by tbo Prov . G . Master , after which the ceremony of consecration was proceeded with . The Prov . Grand Secretary having stated the wishes

of the brethren , handed the warrant of constitution to tho Prov . G . M ., who directed him to read the same , which was duly accepted by a-l present . The Provincial Grand Master ( Bro . C . L . Mason ) then addressed the brethren , as follows : It is not my intention to keep ycu many minutes to-day , but I deem ib well ou this occasion , of the

inauguration of a new Mark Lodge , that some few words should b * J said in reference to our Order , and also as an encouragement to thos 3 who have undertaken the task of promoting its foundation . I shou ' rl ,

however , in the first place like to say a few words of congratulation to my old friend Bro . Dr . Smyth , a Mark Mason of 35 years' standing , on the choice made in selecting him as the first Master ; an hononr not sought by him , and only accepted after mature consideration and
