COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR GIRLS .

npHE General Committee of the Royal Masonio Institution for Girls ' met on Thursday afternoon at Freemasons Hall . Thero wero present Bros . Colonel Creaton Grand Treasurer ( in tho chair ) , E . Letchworth , Thomas Massa , James Peters , Rev . A F . A . Woodford , Griffiths Smith , Arthur II . Gladwell , Henry Massey , John A . Rucker , and W . Bailey . The Committee increased tho

salary of Brother Hedges , the Secretary , by £ 100 a year from the 1 st January last , in consideration of tho zeal and assiduity ho has shown in the discharge of the duties of his office during tho time ho has held thafc position . Bro . E . Lotchworth , who moved in place of Bro . Joshna Nunn , Bro . W . Bailey , who seconded the motion , and Bro . Arthur E . Gladwell , who supported it , spoke in the highest

terms of Bro . Hedges' efficiency as Secretary , and of tho quiet , unassuming way in whicn ho had so much conduced to the success of the Institntion . Three petitioners wore placed on tho list for the election in October . Bro . Thomas Massa gave notice of threo motions he intended to make at tho Quarterly Court in April , and tho Chairman having been authorised to sign cheques in discharge of accounts , the Committee adjourned .

The great pressure on our space , owing to the Festival of the R . M . B . I ., necessitates ouv holding over report of the installation meeting on Monday , 21 st instant , of the Gooch Lodge , No . 1238 , Twickenham , Middlesex . We must fain content ourselves with mentioning , therefore ,

that the retiring W . M ., Bro . Mesrouze , was highly complimented for the signal services he had rendered to the Lodge , and that such services were handsomely recognised by the presentation to him of a Past Master ' s jewel . During his year of office the Gooch Lodge has made

considerable progress , thanks to his ability , diligence , and zeal ; and this is all the more creditable seeing that Bro . Mesrouze is by birth and education a Frenchman . He is , indeed , a sojourner amongst us , being professionally engaged in the somewhat arduous and certainly unenviable

task of imparting to Englishmen a knowledge of his own language . Bro . Mesrouze , however , it should be stated to his credit , is thoroughly well versed in the English tongue , and speaks it with an accent wo have rarely heard in his

fellow-countrymen . He is , moreover , a graduate of the University of Paris , and is essentially , therefore , a scholar , and one well qualified to play the part of a tutor . Wo wish him every success .
